First Redditch had 18 or 19 Enviro 300 allocated prior to the takeover, but Rotala only took 3 of them off, as Rotala thought what First wanted for them was too high.

The number of negative comments posted on FB seems to have reduced, not sure if that is people getting fed up of moaning or whether the services had improved?

There was a 40 minute gap on the 57 on sunday afternoon.

Bank Holiday Monday timetable has an 0815 bus, this did not run, depot said it was despatched and should have departed the bus station ... how can you loose a bus between Redditch depot and bus station?

Over a 25 minute gap on the 57 later that day too, which was then filled by an MPD ...

Poor vehicle allocations ... although thats getting better! The use of Optare Solo's on the 143 is pretty spot on! Although MPD's are common alongside Presidents on the 57 and 58!

I would say some of the complaints are a bit exaggerated, however, there is truth in them!

You'd have thought Diamond/Rotala would have upped their game in Redditch with the threat of an impending Oft investigation

Yes but where do you get larger singles to replace little buses from?
thats Rotalas biggest problem, they should have not bought Redditch until they had enough larger singles.

They have larger buses, there a high quantity of unused full sized darts parked at both Tividale and Long Acre which with a repaint and a bit of retrim could at least be put into service as a temporary measure as most are at least V or W reg.

But would the engines coupe with the hills in Redditch with a full load?

I have been on the 4M climbing the hill to Rowley Regis hospital and the hill from the hosptial to Blackheath are quite steep over a longish distance and the darts always seem to drop the gear automatically back into first and have no trouble climbing them i was quite impressed with how it managed it and these were S/T reg darts so I wouldn't think their would be an issue.

The ones black diamond have are brilliant tho the withdrawn ones are clapped out particularly the ex touchwood ones-remember one of those on the 82 once-very very slow

It depends how they are driven i mean V377/391SVV are from the same batch as some of the touchwood connection buses but always seem very quick for darts other times I have been on Black diamond darts for example S404JUA and it hardly changed out of first or second caught the same bus a week later it was like it had turbo fitted but their was a NXWM bus behind.  ;D

The 3 new buses they have had are supposed to be replacing 3 of the older b7rle to send them to Tividale, if Rotala really needed full sized single deckers why would they sell all their 04 reg ones to Yourbus they could have sent them to Redditch or Tividale which personally I think would be a good option.

wish Kidderminster had bus services on a sunday apart from the 3/x3 , if you want to go anywhere other than stourport there is nothing now the x3 goes to Redditch but  it not worth using unless you live along the route and arrive in kdderminster by train

Why did they sell 10/60 plate buses to New Zealand when they could have kept them and got rid of older buses?
Rotala have made many mistakes ie 6 Yourbus DDs sat at Long Acre doing naffer all, why not brand them Diamond and send them to Redditch to move so smaller buses around or to send some longer Darts to Kidder. People of Redditch have got used to Red Black Blue White and Barbie Diamond buses Purple isnt going to confuse us any more. The phrase up a creek springs to mind.

Looking at Tony's latest Rotala fleetchanges, there are a whole host of fleet changes at Redditch,

In to Redditch:

Solo's 20013 & 20810
MPD's 20469 & 20571
Dart SLF 30445
MAN/Plaxton Centro 30801

Out of Redditch

Dart SLF 20848 - KR
Dart SLF/MCV 30111 - LA
MAN/Plaxton Centro 30804 - LA
B7RLE 30850 - KR
Dart SLF 31503 & 31508 - KR
Dart SLF 31506 & 31510 - withdrawn
Tridents 40610-4 & 40623 - withdrawn

The ex Preston Tridents seem to have just replaced the former First Tridents rather than boosting double decker numbers, KR seem to have gained bigger buses at the the expense of RH receiving 2 x Solo's & 2 x MPD's

Where abouts in redditch is diamonds main depot in relation to the train station/bus station as I don't know redditch very well and is it possible to take good pictures from outside the premises. If not, do you think it would be possible to go in and ask to look around or would this need a letter first. Thanks

The main Plymouth Road depot is just a couple of minutes walk from both Rail and Bus Stations, but you can't really see much from the road as it is all tucked away, in I believe an old railway cutting.

The Church Road site is slightly further away, but still in the Town Centre and only 5 to 10 minutes walk away. This is a typical old Bus Garage site and faces right onto the street, so you can see right into there.

As for all garages, they are private property, so you should always get permission before venturing off the street and onto company property.

If you have a good zoom on you camera you can get photographs of a couple of buses from the correct side of the gates, see second photo down here http://wmbusphotos.com/diamondpages/42565.html
At the bus Station from the 'top' end furthest from the Railway Station there is a path to 'nowhere' just above the exit road, if you walk to the end of this you also get an arial view of the garage

Would Diamond really want to effectively re-introduce the 192 section back to Birmingham? After all it was Diamond who withdrew it in the first place, unless the 292 section would help subsidise extending it back in to Brum

The 192 section to Birmingham was subsidised so effectively it was the council who withdrew it not Diamond. I looked at the figures at about the same time as I introduced the X50 & I would be VERY surprised if Diamond decided to re-introduce it commercially.

On the topic of redditch I never know where to take good bus pictures there-only place I managed was where I got a picture of K126URP which means you can only get some of the buses. Just if anyone has any ideas then please post them as its not like the bus station is great like any centro ones so you cant really take good pictures there either

Bus Station is obviously the key spot, top of the bus station usually around 9-12 is alright for the sun, if your after more 'on street' photos then the Alexandra Hospital is a good spot but services are roughly every 10 mins there, the 57 and 58 are every 10ish in each direction too and are a 5 min walk from the Alex, Studley Island can be alright for the sun too with services 247 and 143 also serving it (as well as Wooshs 350 and 59 at certain times of day) Headless Cross and Crabbs Cross are on the main Evesham Road out of Redditch and can give some variety 26, 55, 56, 247, 350, 70 ... hope this helps.

If you want town center ones, I'd suggest the top of Unicorn Hill, come out the station turn left and just go up the hill past the Wetherspoons, seems a fairly decent setting on the corner at the top and a fair number of routes go up that way from the bus station

Surely, if Diamond is making fleet changes this close to the Oft decision they must have an inkling that the outcome will go in Rotala's favour?

Nope, there's are obviously still some issues to be resolved before a final decision is made or the delay could be due to the new entrant starting competing services on the 57 in Redditch (that works in Diamond's favour)

What do people think the decision will be when released. I have a feeling diamond will be able to keep both operations but will have to sign some kind of agreement on fair increases and time table changes.

I would imagine they may ask Rotala not to increase frequency on the 57 so they don't dominate the market.

There must surely be issues/concerns centred around Redditch, as this is now the third time the decision date has been put back

The Oft have had since the 18th April when they announced their interest and they have set & missed all the dates to date. It's only a relatively small acquisition......

yeah, same as the MX55 and PO54 mate, new signs have gone up at the depot too, so looks like Plymouth Road is for service buses and Church Lane is for engineering work.
