Irrespective of money, if you could choose any vehicle/vehicles for NXWM to run now, what would they be? And, if you're that way inclined, what colour would you paint them?
I'll get to thinking about mine in the meantime...
Would be good to see some Plaxton Centro's and enviro 200's to replace the B6LE'S. I would keep the livery but add the full length connection bars back to the buses.
Good ideas Lukee!
By the way, I ought to say I just want people to share their ideas. No judgement on what people would like.
IT'S JUST FOR FUN!
I'd like to see a batch of Mercedes-Benz Citaro purchased to replace 0405N's and a batch of Volvo B9TL / Wright Gemini 2 to update the decker fleet in the Volvo based garages.
As for livery, I would go back to traditional colours i.e blue & cream, this could be apllied in the current NX format i.e current red area to be cream, white area to be blue with full connection bars at the rear in either cream or white.
I agree with you "Winston" regarding the livery. I think a Wright Gemini would look great in blue and cream, although in my fantasy fleet I think if the livery was to be applied a la current NXWM colours, I'd have the blue at the front with blue connector bars on a cream rear.
I know people say they're rattly, but I've always had a soft spot for Optare so I think I'd quite like to see some Optare Versas feature in my single deck fleet. INterestingly, trying to think of vehicles I'd like, the amount and variety of bodywork manufacturers has shrunk more than I'd realised in recent years.
Mr Wood, re- your application of blue/cream livery, the cream isn't that disimilar to white in terms of showing dirt / discolouring, that's why I would personally go for the majority of the livery to be blue to help the livery wear much better.

I always wondered how an Optare Olympus would look in NXWN livery for some reason...
Definatly some citarios would look good keep the front of the bus red the rear part silver and full length bars back on the sides but in white and re-brand to national express local
Citaros are a must, however, silver is another very difficult colour to match when replacement panels need fitting due to accident damage etc

I'm liking the Citaro idea. Perhaps if the buses were red and blue (red front, blue rear) that would eliminate the "dirty bus" look. Then, maybe reverse that for NX Coventry (blue front, red rear)...though not sure what shade of blue.
Or even have the front in the current shade of sky blue & the rear in the WMT blue

Ok, my fantasy fleet. Plaxton Centros, MCV Evolutions, Volvo B9tl/geminis, Optare Olympus(es), Optare Solo SRs, a few enviro 200 darts and a few high quality Citaros for good measure. And the livery...Blue and cream in a new best impressions style with West Midlands Travel as the fleetname. Route branding on virtually every route though still using similar colours.
I'd have Wright bodied VDL SB220's like Claribels to replace the older single deckers like Excels and B6's

Thats true I agree with you and had forgotten about them!
I coudln't really think of anything else. NXWM have made some good choices the last few years. Enviro400's and Volvo B7RLE/Wright Eclipse Urban 2's are the best buses being built at the moment in my opinion
My fantasy fleet for NXWM
For Double Deckers:
MCV DD103
Borismaster
Single Deckers:
VDL/Wright Pulser 2
Scania/ADL E300
Optare Tempo SR
Midibuses
Wright Streetlite
ADL E200
Livery would be the old toothpaste livery & for coventry use Light blue were the red was
It would be nice to see some
Enviro300s branded in the red/white & blue livery
Leyland Lynx Re-introduction I miss them
Dennis Darts SLF's to replace the B6LE's
Leather seat buses for all express routes - enviros and geminis for double deck routes and omnilinks for the single deck routes
Solos for all midi-bus routes - I really like solos
Presidents for services that don't enter the city
B7/ALX, Dennis and transbus tridents for city centre routes
B7RLEs for single deck routes
My fantasy bus fleet
Single Decker
Wright Cadets (replace Crusaders, but keep some)
Liberators
(56 reg) Eclipse Urbans
Scania Omnilinks
Enviro 200 and 300s
Mercedes Citaros
Temsa Avenues
MCV Evolution
Optare Solo slimlines
If there was a UK Man Lion's City and a Foton BJ6123 those too!
Double
Geminis (fully refurbed)
AD Enviro 400
Scania Omnicity
If there was a Man Kinetic Plus (Reading buses..http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=RX07RKV) those too
The livery would be changed to a blue, silver and red, slightly like the toothpaste livery and interiors would be blue and silver seating, with light blue panels. The name would be changed to West Midlands Bus.
I like the idea of some Optare products, for sure. Solo SRs have a classy look about them, but it always seems whenever NXWM buy minibuses they never stay in good condition and get pushed around from pillar to post until they look really tatty and are got rid of.
Why have a fleet with so many different types of buses?
Small 'midi' single-decks: ADL Dart Enviro200
Standard single-decks: Wright Urban Eclipse 2 B7RLE
Double-decks: Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 and ADL Enviro400

Well, it is a fantasy fleet. If people want loads of different types of bus, then so be it; if someone wanted ONLY double deckers, or only minibuses, then so be it. It doesn't need to make operational sense.
Mr Wood, you'll probably be pleased to see that the SR Solo design is replacing the classic this summer, so they'll be a lot more of them!

Well I quite like the look of both, but the original Solo has been around a while now and doesn't match the Optare family "face" any more, sadly.

The original Solo was discontinued either last year or the year before.
They are still producing standard Solos, just not taking any more orders. Any orders from now have to be the SR
Thought I'd refresh this as, now there's been mention of more trial liveries, what livery/range of liveries would folk like to see on the streets of the West Midlands?
Do PB Still have any leather seated buses from the 992/993/994 - OFF TOPIC SORRY

No, 4763-4776 are all at Walsall. I believe they were exchanged for a few Scanias, although that may have been a different swap.

They must operate 997/997E then, i quite miss them being on the 934/934A

They went to Walsall as the 997A journeys at PB were transformed into extra E journeys to Pheasey and transferred to Walsall.
I think that the Scania's did transfer to PB to help convert the 907 to Single decker, and replaced normal deckers to operate on the 934. 7 of the 10 Scania's went back a month later replaced by 7 Gemini's.
I've seen a lot of Geminis on the 934/A recently

Yesterday must have been a fulll Envrio operation with 1 gemini which was a shock to me, as they are now Gemini operated

Why would PB want to convert the 907 to single deck, just because of low passenger numbers or to reduce anti social behaviour? Sorry, probably a stupid question :)

It was a failure, that's why 7 of the 10 OmniLink's went back to Walsall a Month later in August 10. Replaced by Gemini's.
service 907 is operated by Enviroo 400's, ominilinks the odd B1OL, Gemini's, ALX400 & The new Desiel Enviro400's, quite recently its been low floor operated
All the NXWM fleet is lower floor

Nathan, Just read what you have written, you are contradicting yourself again.
As a point of fact the 907 has been a mix of single & double deckers for some time. Nothing has changed and is is not Single decker operated, or it certainly wasn't on Friday when I was doing revenue checks on it

Basically, anyone can click the applaud or smite buttons under your name, except for yourself of course. Applaud means good/positive, and smite means bad/negative. Mine is 22/97, so 22 people have clicked applaud, and 97 have clicked smite for me.
I think all of my smites have come from a certain idiot.
Cheers for the information, Michael and Tony.
