A Unibus-liveried Olympian went up in flames on Gibbet Hill Road near the junction with Library Road at about 9:30am, meaning that that section of the road had to be closed.
I am live at the scene reporting for you, but unfortunately do not have my camera or phone with me, so can give you little more information.
I heard that there was a strike of the fire service today of all days too -- though I am not sure if this region is affected as fire engines and police are at the scene.

You know, I was thinking only the other day about how few Olympians have gone up in flames

Sounds more of a depot fire and possibly minibuses/coaches? WMFS are stating all incidents taking place during the strike:
4.01pm Tipton: fire involving three buses

Tom Stokes on twitter states it involved 1 double deck and two single decks on land off Bagnall Street, Great Bridge.

Yes,  that batch of Olympians are/were fine buses.  16617 was bought new for Unibus and died on it.

I think 16617 was the last Olympian in Unibus livery still in use.  16516 is still in Unibus colours but has been delicensed (gearbox trouble?) for several months.

I have my suspicions that these will be YRP371; W139ULR & W126WGT of Khokar, Smethwick (WM) which have been dumped in a lock up next to a scrap yard in Bagnall Street

What a great lad, as a bird lover I'm so glad he managed to save all those canaries! Goes to show there are still some good kids out there.

One of those vehicles looks like the remains of Abbey Coaches ex Heartlands Olympian which is kept on Bagnall Street.
