It's going to be interesting with the route learning for the new 76 anyway, as the current diversion on the 27 in Weoley Castle will still be in place come the changes.
Local Routes: 002, 39/39A, X21, 46, 76.
Localish Routes: 18, 23, X22.

I'd imagine most drivers at YW will be familiar with the route already, those who drive on all routes anyway.
My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

There are drivers that drive on more than one route?

Yes, nearly all 5000 of them

The drivers on the Kings Norton rota do the 49/76 so will need some sort of route learning, the Pool Farm rota does the 27/35. Only the spare drivers at YW and some of the braver ones know all the routes and drive them regularly for overtime.

Great to see a best possible fit co-ordination between the 76 & 27 on Chinn Brook Road and Hollybank Road to and from Kings Heath after seemingly years of the two services near enough following each each other followed by a close to 20 min gap (particularly obvious back when the 27 ran to Hawkesley). From the end of the month Mon-Sat daytime will offer a 12+8 to KH & 8+12 from KH interval (ie best overall fit given alternative would be 10+10 & 6+14) and Sun daytime offers a nice 16+14 & 14+16 interval. Well done NXWM scheduling team.

Before anyone bites my head off, this is just a thought but could the 18 not have been extended to Harborne instead of an already lengthy 76? Or even an 18A introduced that turned right at the traffic lights in Northfield when coming from Yardley Wood to go straight down Shenley Lane then towards Harborne?
Local Routes: 002, 39/39A, X21, 46, 76.
Localish Routes: 18, 23, X22.

How do you extend a route from somewhere it doesn't terminate?

No, extend the 18 from Bartley Green, or have an 18A that goes from Northfield to Harborne instead of Bartley Green.

Then it wouldn't cover the 27 route or you would reduce the service on a very busy section of the 18

Then perhaps if the 18 was extended to Harborne from Bartley Green you could reroute the X21 to terminate on Shenley Lane to replace the 27. As the 18 would have to go through Woodcock Hill anyway to get to Weoley Castle / Harborne.

And incur the wrath of people over changing the 18 route.

How? The extended 18 could've used the extra buses needed for the extended 76, and the X21 would take about the same time on Shenley Lane as it does getting to Woodcock Lane
Local Routes: 002, 39/39A, X21, 46, 76.
Localish Routes: 18, 23, X22.

So Woodcock Lane doesn't deserve a bus service to Birmingham?
