How come the 18 never got any route branding?

You could ask the same question of any number of other routes.

Not every route needs to be branded, it would cause nightmares for route allocators if every single bus at every garage was branded for specific routes.

I did see at least two of the 47** buses with full advertising on the sides, while in Kings Heath on Saturday.
