M834 SDA is the last step-entry Scania double decker with TGM, M162 GRY and H804 RWJ have been withdrawn and will probably be scrapped.  834 is at TGM Stansted but even this bus may not be around for long.

Arriva / Wardle losing coach section?
August 05, 2013, 02:01:17 AM
The latest withdrawals, or reserve list seems to indicate that Arriva is pulling out of the coach operation it acquired from Wardle.  Is this the case?

Wardles step entry dds are Volvo Olympians 4650/2/87/92 but these must be next out.

vinh1000- Ive also seen it on Wikipedia as well, so the destruction will be completed then. Lets hope the Citybuses are finished then, including 38125 at Newcastle-under-Lyme.

bob- Remember my suggestion of a First/NatEx swap.  OK it was shot down in flames but never mind!

Firstly I must correct an error- Finglands coaches are not passing to First.  I think Selwyns or Maynes could take over the ten coaches they own.  Whittles is a bit of a problem but there are some areas where competition is unviable and pointless.  Would they be too small for National Express?

Ashley- The Dennis Lances have gone, but theres no news of the two Volvo Citybuses.  Where is the statement regarding the closure of First Northampton?

Finglands fleet , although not elderly, were ageing and given Greater Manchester ITAs 15-year age limit 30 of Finglands buses were going to need replacing by 2017.  Its quite possible that the LF deckers will simply transfer to East Yorkshire as Volvo Olympian replacements. The single deckers will replace Mercedes and Optare Excels at EYMS.  It would be interesting to see First would do with the coach fleet.

I cannot see them keeping Whittle for much longer- this could be sold to Rotala.  This expansion is a surprise however.  I still think First should buy NX Dundee in exchange for NX taking Stoke or Leicester.

Any news? Surely the Leyland Olympians and Volvo Citybus have not been reprieved for another school year?

Having looked at the withdrawals on the fleet news update (20th July) I wonder what has happened to the Volvo Citybuses? Surely they've gone as well as the Dennis Lances and elderly Scania LFs.  BTW the last Dennis Lances are half-dozen in Bath.

bob- Brownies motto- be prepared.  I still think 2038 is a preservation candidate because it has outlasted all the other step Darts to be the last with Arriva TGM.   3613-9 are seven in total and these could replace the Scanias plus a couple of tired SLF Darts.

bob- They could/should be allocated to Wardles to replace the last step-entry single decks there.
6 Volvo B10BLEs replacing 5 Scanias plus Dart 2038.

Stop being pedantic haha :-P

ho ho ho
Anyway this is the place for Potteries deckers.  As well as (with preserved exceptions) Barnsley.

THIS is the place for discussion of Potteries deckers.  It may be that 38125 is the last closed top Volvo Citybus with First, if 38098, 38121/2 were withdrawn last week at Northampton.  Of the Leyland Olympians G753/5/7/8 XRE remain despite the abundance of replacements within First.

On occasions I hate being pedantic but this thread is about mystery Dennis Darts which have been acquired and there are threads catering for Firsts ageing Leyland/Volvo Olympians.  Thanks!
