@karl724223 back in the day when me and my mates used to venture to pubs in the deepest Black Country for a pint of Bathams and Banks's and the like, we used to have to take an interpreter with us!! I suspect that's the service @Mike K has performed for us all 😀😀

Quote from: cardew on March 10, 2024, 08:09:20 PMin the meantime the fake story about 2000 buses needing a recall from an anti net-zero paper will have had countless views on facebook. Depressing.
As always with the Daily Mail one has to read very carefully. Right at the end of the article it states the number of vehicles recalled correctly - after having raised incorrectly the spectre of the entire national fleet of ADL/BYD buses being faulty. Of course, that doesn't match their desired narrative of slagging off environmental activities and talking up the continuing use of fossil fuels.

Quote from: Jack on March 05, 2024, 10:47:58 PMIf you didn't use vegweb and looked in person you'd see it's been nowhere near those routes.

This is a bus enthusiast forum so why get irritated when bus enthusiasts ask questions (this one appears quite reasonable - I don't recall NXWM having had a bus travelling around reporting as another).

Bustimes is one of the most useful bits of software for bus passengers (and enthusiasts) ever invented - a couple of idiots who seem to pride themselves in referring to it by derogatory names and also bus enthusiasts as veg and the like is irritating beyond belief, and actually conflicts with the forum rules (which were placed there when a couple of other people years ago swallowed the authoritarian dictator potion and spent time moaning about other members and naming and shaming staff).

I'm sure the forum staff can deal with these things but @Jack these posts moaning about other members are very tiresome.

Now that the Sprint buses are planned to be electric and based at Perry Barr, I'll be interested to see how the hydrogen buses are used - if staying at Walsall they'd need to be operated in Birmingham so presumably 934-7 and 997 - unless they go to another garage in 2025.

Nasty incident involving a Metrobus single decker in Horsham. Tree falls through the side of the bus.

Quote from: Westy on February 26, 2024, 02:15:33 PMAfter deregulation, it was.

Pre deregulation, off the top of my head, it was at least hourly(2 hourly Sundays!).
To the extent that its predecessor, the 358 (Walsall area numbering) used ex Walsall Fleetlines until the mid 70s - in order to accommodate the replacement higher standard WMPTE Fleetlines and VRs, the railway overbridge near Pelsall (Walsall-Lichfield line) was adjusted to suit. IIRC the bridge was raised slightly. A vast difference from the modern day situation at Sandwell and Dudley Parkway station rail over bridge.

Quote from: Steve3229vp on February 24, 2024, 08:43:59 PMYour looking at approximately 16 buses used on 4/4E/4M. I can't think of a route at WB using that amount of buses which would we able to run from WA.
Interestingly there are 19 B7RLEs at Coventry - presumably will be replaced for the 2025 'Electric City'.

Couldn't a swap round be done with Pensnett, Wolverhampton and Walsall (eg 529 to Walsall), a route from WB to Pensnett and Pensnett to WN? Yes, agree re the diversion to avoid the bridge at Sandwell and Dudley Parkway.

Quote from: BlackCountryBusSpotter on February 24, 2024, 07:19:40 PMBradford Place can't use Double Deckers so even if Walsall did get enough they can't be used on the 4 anyway.
If you mean because of Bridgeman Street bridge, buses could use Pleck Road and The Broadway or direct in towards Bradford Place from Pleck Road. In any case, even if the Scanias at Walsall were replaced by B7RLEs can those get under the bridge? And any electric single decker would be hard pressed so the route to/from depot issue surely has to be dealt with in the near future. Could the route swap to WB anyway as part of a switch around of routes?

Not to mention that Walsall's allocation of Scanias will be due for replacement in the next year or two. I somehow doubt Walsall will get any electrics for the time being but surely could get some cascades. I had a dream about this type of thing but unfortunately, it didn't involve Walsall - PB's 699x-7000 and 7500 etc got transferred to WB replacing all their Geminis, and the Euro 6 ones to AG to replace their non Euro 6 Geminis!! Don't quote me though - it was only a dream lol!! 😀

Quote from: frostjay974 on February 19, 2024, 05:07:08 PMHe said that 4 people had died but many reliable sources such as the BBC and statements from the ambulance/fire service had stated that only one person had died as a pose to the apparent 4 so yeah it isn't true what he posted
He posted not long after the crash happened at 830 pm last night. Various people involved were being given CPR on site and early reports suggested up to four people were killed. As I said, the media didn't start to report it until later this morning - even Birmingham Live didn't report it till about 7 am and all the media outlets reported they had asked each of the emergency services for comment but it is only later today full statements have been issued by the emergency services, maybe owing to criminal investigations. So I think you're shooting the messenger without knowing the facts. I guess the 74 driver must have witnessed it and reported back to WB. It's a horrendous and tragic crash - akin to a motorway collision on a 30 mph shopping street.

Quote from: frostjay974 on February 19, 2024, 04:18:07 PMSending misleading information yet again smh. Only one person had died not 4 and it was a rear end collision therefore he wasn't driving on the wrong side either! the road has also now been reopened.
I don't think it was that misleading, and we shouldn't be so quick to judge.... It's not assisted by the fact the emergency services didn't release any details of this fatal crash until later this morning despite being asked for comments by the media - however from the video footage on You Tube the vehicle was travelling at extremely high speed along the Soho Road out of town (over 60 mph I'd say), and collided at that speed with the back of a traffic queue bouncing one stationary vehicle into the opposite stream of traffic creating a head on collision, and then colliding with a number of other vehicles. The vehicles and some parked vehicles were severely damaged and one passenger in a stationary car was killed and several others injured - the driver of the speeding car is being charged with causing death by dangerous driving (but was also taken to hospital) - from the various videos on You Tube, it appears miraculous no one else was killed - there was a 74 at the front of one of the streams of traffic held up so possibly lucky not to be caught up in it - I wonder how long it was caught there? It's even more surprising given the nature of the incident (severely damaged vehicles strewn all over the road and debris over a wide distance) the police were able to open the road quite so swiftly - usually evidence gathering and investigation would take a significant time.

I'd agree entirely with you @karl724223 but from another viewpoint, major bus operator's miniature bus collapses partially on suspension in bus station provoking fear amongst passengers on board and onlooking local bus spotters and employees!! Nothing to look at here, move along quietly 😲🤣

It would be interesting to hear the driver's account.

Quote from: Wba_lad on February 13, 2024, 07:02:01 PMI'm not exaggerating, I seen it with my own eyes somthing was hanging onto the road or bus station layover bays, and the bus was sitting very low.
Was it one side only, front or back only or just one corner?

Maybe hit a bad pot hole?
