When the bus seated Natiinals were re engined with DAFs what year was that? Am i right in thinking the DP examples were never treated at the time? What happened were they just stored for years then refitted with Volvos? I remember Walsall having a number of them in the mid 90s...super comfortable seating that would put todays buses to shame!

According to a CCDC press release, Swift is to be extended to bus services in Cannock Chase! So presumably could be used as far as Huntington on the 1, From walsall to cannock on 1 2 and 3, from Wolves to Cannock?

Does anyone have any photos of the early days of the Chase line?  Ie before the Sprinters?  I remember a rare heritage DMU with huge mega comfy seats on one occasion which would've been probably a class 115, but also regularly a train with bus type seats in the main. What was the regular allocation ie which class of heritage DMU?  Did it ever see class 101s used? I remember them being far more comfortable and having more character than the class 170 that we get today with the lack of seats and bad overcrowded carriages

Shame this will come to nothing I'm sure they would do a great job

Just a thought,  if areas like Cannock Chase and others join up to.this, will we enjoy the same low transport fares as people past the old kernel cafe boundary do???

Arriva / April service changes
March 30, 2015, 07:09:08 PM
A few surprises. ..

A new X7 between lichfield and burton,  not serving fradley and yoxall etc, presumably to compete with the X12.

A new 810 from midland classic between lichfield and burton covering some of the places the X7 doesnt.

Changes to the 76 "no details yet but to be announced"

& while not really a shocker, I am surprised the 75 is being cut to a cannock to penkridge only route, especially with the forthcoming new nx 54 service
They may as well hand the passengers over....

In a couple of weeks ive got to go on training in brum. I'll be getting the X51 from cannock,  what I need to know is where do you catch the 80 in the city centre now? It used to be corporation st last time I got it. Does it still serve bath row ? And do any other routes go up bath row?

Arriva / Arriva's c##p website
October 09, 2014, 01:15:49 AM
What the hell have they done to the site! Been like this for weeks now, you used to be able to simply download timetables for whatever route, now you have to select main stops/all stops then when youve p####d about doing that the timetables dont download! ! Quite a few other people have had issuea!. They don't even put accurate service updates on there. Total rubbish!  I needed a timetable for the 74/5 im just gonna have to find out at the bus station. Theyre provide crap service in so many aspects!

Arriva / Changes to services/timetables

If a company is axing a service/changing a timetable etc and its been registered with vosa do they have to advertise it on buses eg posters notices bus stops leaflets to inform passengers?

Arriva / Best and worst bus in cannocks fleet
December 31, 2013, 05:01:42 PM
I think the centros are poss my favourite bus although its an sb200 they seem quieter inside than commanders, also fantastic legroom all the way through the whole bus! Joint no1 would be the new arrival w109 ewu, coach seats adding a touch of luxury loll plus with it being a volvo sounds nice n beefy like a real bus :). Worat would have to be any if the bu51 darts worn out tired and horrid threadbare interiors

Arriva / VDL/DAF sb200
October 19, 2013, 02:50:25 PM
I wondered what people's thoughts and views were on this type of bus? Personally I think theyre horrendous.  Horrifically underpowered to the point where they cant even pull off from a stop without sounding like they're going to combust. Very noisy especially when required to do any speed. Arriva must love them as theyve standardised on them for yonks. No other major firm has bothered with them though have they?

Arriva / Over a year at wednesfield
October 14, 2013, 07:06:15 PM
After 12 months of arriva wednesfield or so, I wondered what people's views were? Has it been a success?  Improvement in quality? Have they made much of an impact? What do people think of the new routes like the 19? Will they compete against NX?

My personal opinion is quality has improved especially externally bus wise, and theyve tried to be innovative ( sadly it gasnt worked with the 19) . However I don't think theyve made much impact,  to me they still look like a niche midibus operator unfortunately. ..

One thing ive wondered for ages is when and why did bus seats change from the old fashioned traditional ones ie with the metal bar across the top to things like urban90 & the sort on tridents etc
Ive always found the old ones loads more comfortable and generally better with things like legroom.  Urban 90 are possibly the most hideous and unpleasant seats ever

I was never lucky enough to go on one of these,  I know they were gardner engined and wondered did they sound completely different to the cummins production batch?  Also did they not stay in wolverhampton long and get moved to brum? And werent they withdrawn & stored prematurely?  I remember them being refurbished & reinstated about 1992

Arriva / Underpowered?
July 20, 2013, 02:47:15 PM
Why do sb200s struggle to get up even smallish hills etc? They have to be revved to the max and SCREAM and still struggle!
