Am I right in remembering that the c2000 closure of Corporation Street (to remove the Bull St Ramp?) was the catalyst for its move to Colmore Row as I have faintish memories of seeing a Hagley Road B10L around the Corpy St area back in the late 90s.

Am I right or was I imagining things as I know there was a lot of things going on then (St Martins, High Street pedestrianisation, Ryder Street, then the Masshouse works in 2002)?

I can't remember how far back this was now, but I do recall the Hagley Road services being 'split' between Corporation Street and Colmore Row.

Certainly the 120, 126, 127/258, 128 and 129 used to serve Corporation Street, while the 9, 109/139/141 and 140 served Colmore Row.
My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

I think 120, etc had there own stop. And 126 shared a stop with the AG 31 at Corporation Street.
The 120 etc used it until closure in 2012 I think. Not sure about the 126, I remember it using Colmore Row at some point.

More recently, several years ago the 126 used to serve the Markets, Moor Street and New Street Station area while the others served Colmore Row as well. And at one point used Bath Row instead as well.

It also seems the Hagley Road routes and 23/24 might return to Broad Street from June 5th. Ending the Cambridge Street/Sheepcoate Street routing, that has now been in place for 4 years.

When was New Street shut off, as you used to have the 51 & the like doing the Colmore , New St, Corporation loop years ago?

Then you had that period when the 51 headed towards Smallbrook Queensway as well?

Yeah, I remember the 120 using Corporation Street because it accessed Paradise by the Town Hall (what became the X62/X64 stop iirc), same with the Smethwicks.

The 126 iirc served Colmore after doing the markets (I remember once getting a 126 into city and the driver going down colmore and doing the loop by the cathedral by mistake instead of the markets but i think that was c2009/2010)

I dont remember the 258 going down Corporation Street when it was moved over to MH so it must have moved with the 9/109/139.

@the trainbasher 126 definitley used to stop with the AG 31 on Corporation Street in the mid to late 2000's. Purple branded Tridents.  I caught it from there many times.

Yes. The 31 & 126 did stop at the same stop on Corporation Street. The very last stop was the 4 (to Cheswick Green?) and 6.  Then it was the 37. Then it was the 2 & 12, and the 4th from last was the 31 (and 126).

Yeah, I think that moved to Colmore c08/09?

I can't be 100% certain, but I do think it was the case that all the services that went via the Bear Tavern used the same stop on Corporation Street. I lived in Bearwood circa 2006-2008 and I remember being spolit for choice for buses home.

I'm pretty sure the 126 moved during 2010, I recall a video on Youtube from January 2010 and the 126 was still serving Corporation Street then.

Just had a look at Google Streetview, and the earliest image from 2009 shows only the 120, 128 and 129 on Corporation Street, the 258 did indeed stop on Colmore Row with the 140.

I have checked Omnibus Society Midland Branch Bulletins for this period.  Buses were removed from Corporation Street (and also Upper and Lower Bull Street) from 16 January 2000.  Hagley Road buses returned to Colmore Row.

The 9 (and 19, 109 and 139 at various times) used Corporation Street since 28 June 1992.  Before then it had used Colmore Row.

Did the 140 and 120 terminate at Stephenson Street at one point?

I thought this thread was about the history of Hagley Road services? Seems to have gone a bit off-topic?
