Not really a breakdown but today whilst waiting for the 10 in town, 4404 pulled up (trying) to let a passanger on. The driver couldn't open the doors automatically, so the boarding passengers intervened and pressed the emergency open button and when that failed the driver tried the emergency open button from the inside and when that also failed he used all his strenght trying to manually force the doors opened, and when that failed other passengers onboard had to intervene and help the driver force the doors open to let people on! It was the funniest thing I'd seen all day and I was in stitches for at least half an hour! When the doors finally opened the driver joked gordon bennett I thought I'd have to let you in through the back door! :P

Surely if the doors were malfunctioning like that, the bus should have been taken out of service?

My thoughts exactly. Malfunctioning passenger doors are a PG9 for PCV's I'm sure.
They probably did take it out of service after that journey, it was just leaving town and was probably going to go out of service after that journey anyway, so itd be easier to just let it do that journey then take it out of service for the reduced night time vr anyway. This was about 18:30.

4404 doesn't show on the system as being out in service at all on 2/2/14

Would have been the 1st, as she posted at 3am in the morning of the 2nd

On the 1st 4404 was on the 18 all day, so didn't have door problems on the 10
I know it was on the 18, I was waiting for the 10 and I got 4688.
Favourite buses currently:
871, 1828, 4421, 4764, 6101, 6108, 6116, 6118, 6121, 6848, 6849
Least favourite buses currently:
4203, 4213, 4398, 4419

Not exactly a breakdown, but 826 has been taken out of service on the 222 after losing its nearside wing mirror because the driver got much too close to stand F at Merry Hill.

Trident 4609

4590 failed on WN 59 just before Wood End this morning. 4015 replaced it

Trident 4609

The bus bus i had on the 51 (4863) had to stop just before Scott Arms about 15:45 this afternoon due to the air pressure being lost in one of the tanks

P419 EJW

Just saw 508, P508 EJW, with the hazard lights on, stopped by the bus stop in Deansfield Road. As the bus I am on, 1686, passing - the driver on 508 signed "broke" (I know sign language as it is my first language) and I saw him. The boot at the back was open.

One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.

Ooh, alright haha, I get it now. 😉 I honestly wouldn't think of that word Ka-put! xD I did notice that bus drivers do use their own hand gestures while they pass each other. I try to work it out myself on what they might mean.

It was best when I first started. Make your hand "bark" like a dog, meant "Wait your time at Dogpool, inspector about!", and a finger twisting is "Inspectors at British Oak", tap the steering wheel means "Gaffer on board/Gaffer at the outer - Be vigilant" and then the obvious Rotating your fists around each other for "Swap drivers?" with a number of fingers up denoting what time you're coming off. There were others of which I can't remember.

Also holding up a number of fingers indicated the Inspector was that many stop away

Unidentified Trident about to be towed from Dudley bus station, fairly recently refurbed so could quite possibly have been 4538 again
