502 seemed to be lacking power and making some strange noises on the 244 today. Got off it in Halesowen towards Dudley because I didn't think it would make it back to Dudley without breaking down or getting stuck trying to make it up a hill!

502 was struggling even where there weren't even actual hills! Slowest bus i've been on. Seemed as bad as a Metrobus!

Worse than.

Not the slowest I've been on. You want a slow one try TGB's 109.

I wonder if 502 was actually changed over because there is no way it made it up the hill on the approach to Dudley.

To be honest the 243/4 is its regular route so it must manage to get up that hill somehow.

1628 caught fire about 45 minutes ago on the 244, with me on board...

Everyone was moved onto the 140 behind as it was only a couple of minutes from Dudley.

Thanks, don't worry nobody was harmed unless the smoke which filled the bus is toxic (if I suddenly fall ill in the next few hours I'll let you know!). I believe it was an engine problem yes. Coincidentally "pensnettdriver" from on here was driving.

Did you see if the fire damage was bad?

No I didn't. It seemed to be inside the engine and I didn't see the engine open.

I reckon this is goodbye to 1628 though.

The third Pensnett Merc in the space of a couple of months to be fire damaged, I reckon Pensnett are trying to bump themselves up the queue for new buses ;-)

I did notice that 1628 seemed to be overrevving and screaming more than usual.
