The Metroriders used to be used on the 28, and I'm sure they took a similar route in Erdington.

Metroriders wouldn't have had any problem as they were mini-buses  ;D

My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

Gah!

I spent over an hour staring at the Metrobus pictures trying to find one showing 28, and I must've got them muddled in my mind.

I do remember catching an iteration of them (or something similar) on the 737 in the morning from Tamar Drive on my way to work in Bedworth. Although, looking at the histories of the metroriders and the other ones, it was probably one of the Mercedes minibuses.

Would they used South Road/Resevoir Road then?

They did, can remember doing a Metrobus up South Road on the 28 in the early 2000s I think.

It was around 2007 that the 28 went single decker

Diamond NW are selling off their Scania Esteems, along with a couple of Versas.

Unless significant work (repairs) has been done to YJ61CHK, they're having a laugh. Goes for YJ61CHH too.
