The 529 could probably do with the night buses, the 33 and 51, i s'posse could work

Looking back on the 79 timetable made in 27th March 2005 (I miss Travel West Midlands timetables), the route used to take 89 minutes in the day time and 65 minutes in the evening. If I remember correctly, 979 was a timesaver route, I tried to find a timetable of 979 but it seems I can't find it but I would suspect it'd might take less than an hour?

I have a 979 timetable dated February 1999, the journey time from Wolves to Birmingham was 65 minutes.  All journeys from 0635 to the last full working at 1735 were timed as such.  Service went from Birmingham via Cape Hill, Blue Gates, West Brom bus station, Wednesbury, Moxley, Bilston to Wolves, limited stop.  I have a vague memory of doing the 979 all the way through from Wolves to Birmingham sometime in 1999 or 2000 on a B6LE.

It was withdrawn in late 1999 / 2000 I think. Replaced by the 80 between Wednesbury and Birmingham. Same route as the 979 but not limited stop. B6LEs originally then changed to Mercs in the May 2002 service changes.

The current 80 is nothing like the original.

The 979 was introduced at deregulation in October 1986. Originally was operated by dual purpose Metrobuses 2937-2940 & 2955. My first ride on the whole route was on 2938 on 15th Nov 1986. Never did carry heavy loads and the Metrobuses were replaced by dual purpose Lynx's 1261-1265 in 1990. Not sure I could have stood a B6LE for 65 minutes however!

Well, that answers that question, and being stuck on a B6LE for the duration of the 28 Willenhall-Wolverhampton is bad enough, on the best of days

I think it took about the same as the 126

6 branded B7RLE (Didn't catch the fleet number) and 5 branded 2060 on WN59. 2060 has just left Wolverhampton Bus Station at 08:00 and the 6 branded B7 is on the trip infront.

The 6 branded should be out all day and the 5 branded is a peak extra

2072 has just left Wednesfield towards Ashmore Park.

Saw that on the way to school just, thought it was strange

Codsall Clipper branded B7RLE on 59 in Wednesfield about 0735 headed towards W'ton, not sure which fleet number, though

I think that the 9 should be branded as well, and it would be good if the 61/63 could be branded for the Bristol Road again too.

The 9 was due for branding, Simon Mathieson said so on here before he left, maybe they are awaiting new buses for it?

They did actually have plans to brand the 9 & 141, with blue Hagley Road branding, but for some reason, the plan fell through

The 333 Wolverhampton-Walsall route could be argued as a potential cock-up.

At one stage, the 333 was re-routed in the Bentley Area to serve Churchill Road, Wolverhampton Road West, Shepwell Green and the new Tesco Willenhall/Darlaston.

This was re-routed back a year later due to public demand from residents along Bentley Road North & Queen Elizabeth Avenue, however with a slight loop around Morris Avenue in Bentley. The residents on Morris Avenue & Slim Road weren't happy about this and blocked a bus off on one occasion. This loop was quite quietly dropped not long after.

Obviously since the 333 has been completely withdrawn, however earlier this year the 40 was re-routed to replace the old 333 around Portobello in Willenhall.
The withdrawal itself has been argued about by many - we now have the 9 operating every 20 minutes (up from every 30) and Sandwell Travels half-hourly 333X covering part of the route - arguably an increase in frequency along that part of the route compared to 4 buses an hour before.

Does anything serve that Tesco apart from the 310 & 57?

Neither of those run evening & Sundays.

Umm, the Arriva service 9 from Lodge Farm to Walsall serves the TESCO every 20 minutes, although this has already been said

I've seen one or two Enviro400's on the 69 before the school holidays, i think it was 4776 on the 69 on 15/7/14 on a journey from Wolverhampton about 2:55pm at Wednesfield High School

Sorry i meant to add that the 69 isn't on time on saturdays either, usually when i catch it home from Walsall its about 5-6 minutes late, similar to the old 369

I thought that the 529 was only scheduled to take 26 minutes at peak, not counting traffic, and i wasn't actually suggesting it would link with the X51 at Walsall, just follow the same route

The WA69 is NEVER on time, i know, i have catch it from school in an afternoon, its always 10 minutes early or 20 minutes late
