Rotala looked at acquiring YourBus through its Preston Bus Ltd subsidiary, and hence why there was an additional operating centre added.

In the end we couldn't agree a deal.

Thanks for the update!

Will you look at potentially acquiring some of the assets?

We already own 19 vehicles - I don't think we will buy anymore.  There are only 4 which are Euro 6

They are two seperate companies. A listed company like Rotala will only buy another company if it will benefit shareholders.

After seeing a post on Preston Bus own facebook page it appears they are selling the remaining 5 Volvo B5LHs:

40607 PO62LNU
40608 PO62LNF

Could be this be due to the contract losses?

Wonder who will take them?

mikestone

Nobody wants early hybrids do they?
;
While probably most enthusiasts understand why, it's hardly good publicity for Rotala with the average reader.

The price isn't too bad and EYMS are just doing the first B5LH straight diesel conversion, so it wouldn't surprise if if Go-Ahead didn't take a punt on them

@Tony very kindly explained on the rationale behind NXWM replacing the engines in the 1 Wolverhampton buses with much more efficient diesel engines reducing emissions amazing. Very hard even for me to find good publicity about Rotala to be fair.

Steveminor

But isnt the fact they are replacing buses with much more economical & environmentally friendly buses not good publicity?

mikestone

Not to the general public who are constantly being told that electric and hybrid cars are the bees knees.

Not all the hybrids are getting converted only 5402/9/12. I believe it's create spares for the existing E400Hs as the batteries in these are degrading faster than the volvos. There has been technological advancement in engines since those hybrids came out (7 years if they are 13 plate)

@Simon Dunn are these streetdecks pure diesel or smart hybrids like NX 67 plates onwards buses?
