So diamond have to buy 67 new buses at a cost of £13 million, would it not have been easier to pull out and concentrate on the west and east midlands
All views are my own and does not represent the views of any company/ business that i maybe be working with

Tony

QuoteNo, as Manchester needs to be Euro 6
And the list of vehicles was decided many months ago as TfGM were listing them on tender bids

That's the way it is done, right?

No @ellspurs get it right all the old crap will transfer back to the Midlands and be distributed to Tividale; Redditch and Kidderminster and if Burton are really lucky they might get some too 😂

From 1/5/23 - Tividale will need to be 100% Euro 6 itself.

There aren't many older vehicles left at DBNW, it has the lowest average fleet age within the Rotala Group

Clearly, not otherwise Rotala wouldn't have bothered bidding for the 7 small franchises they won, plus there are other large franchises up for grabs over the next year or two.

Also vehicles will be sold after the depot sale (if it goes ahead), not at the same time.

For clarity, it is expected the depot sale will happen before 23/09/23, and why these words are used.

The consideration does not include all the fleet.  We are keeping around 40 vehicles from the DBNWL fleet which we want to retain for deployment.  Of the fleet being retained some will be kept in DBNWL to operate the contracts which surpass the 23/09/23 Tranche 1 inception.  The Balance will be redeployed.

When you bid for any of the Franchises you have to include a vehicle plan, which you are then committed to.  The 67 vehicles are what we committed to do for the work we have won.  Clearly not delivering on this commitment is a breach of contract.

In addition to the above, Diamond NW will be also be building a new purpose built depot near to their current Eccles depot to both replace that & operate the new franchises from:

" The depot in Eccles is to be relocated to a brand new, purpose built state of the art site nearby. The new depot will have capacity for over 100 vehicles. Due to the length of time in purchasing a site, obtaining planning permission and constructing the facility, additional parking, office and workshop capacity has been secured in the vicinity of our current site on an interim basis to enable the successful operation of the new franchises from September 2023. Furthermore, over 60 brand new double and single deck vehicles will be delivered over the summer, for use on the new franchises. "

Well pretty much everything at Tividale bar the 68 & 20 plate Streetlites (and in case anyone comments "what about the Yellow Buses Streetlites" well they're NOT Euro 6); the Mellor's; and the already converted Solo's will be gone unless Diamond pay out to have all the non-Euro 6 vehicles converted BUT I can't see them doing that especially the Transdev Volvo's nor any of the other Volvo's infact so that makes me wonder if the Volvo's (and other non Euro 6 vehicles) will either be sold on; scrapped or transferred to other depots i.e. Redditch; Kidderminster or even sent to Preston because as far as I'm aware Preston & Blackpool don't currently have any clean air zones to worry about so I guess they could if there was requirement.

Perhaps you need to check your facts, there's a lot more Euro 6 vehicles at Tividale. All the ex Claribel vehicles for a start

On the 1st December Tividale had 85 Euro 6 vehicles allocated, which is hardly just a few Streetlites and Mellors 20050; 20051; 20053; 20056; 20057; 20159; 20161; 20162; 20163; 20164; 20165; 20167; 20177; 20179; 20533; 20736; 20737; 20738; 20739; 20740; 20741; 20886; 20887; 20888; 21207; 21209; 21210; 21211; 21212; 21213; 21214; 21218; 21223; 21224; 21225; 21226; 21227; 21228; 21232; 21233; 21234; 21235; 21236; 21237; 21238; 30120; 30302; 30415; 30416; 30804; 30805; 30922; 32125; 32126; 32127; 32128; 32129; 32130; 32132; 32133; 32134; 32135; 32136; 32226; 32230; 32233; 32234; 32235; 32236; 32238; 32240; 32307; 32308; 32309; 32315; 32316; 32317; 32318; 32319; 32320; 32322; 32323; 32324; 32325; 32326.

You are correct, neither Preston or Blackpool at present have a clean air zone nor is one proposed currently.
