Anyone remeber Birmingham Coach Company using Ederley Nationals during 1990`s mainly on Services 9,16,51

later by 2000 becoming Diamond Routes.

With Service 16/156 being first routes with new buses Daf Wright I believe

Certainly do...... most companies competing with WMT/TWM back then had large fleets of Nationals

danny

I remember the regular workings on the 120, in the days when it was all leyland, in the red corner wer BCC with the national and in the blue WMT/TWM with the lynx. Good times :)
Danny :) proud swift, mango and oyster user...

My locals 12, 12A, 13, 22, 126, and the sixes every weekend :)

Logical thread to drag up to ask this question....

Anyone know if any of BCC's oldest buses survive anywhere in anyway? These Nationals or their dual door Lances?
Now in exile in Oxfordshire....

I've got in my folder which contains my Rotala Midlands and West fleet a picture I bought of a former Crosville Leyland National,GMB 661 T,at work on Corporation Street in what I assume is the late 1990's on the 51.
Don't judge me until you've walked in my size ten shoes.

One of the Paladin Lances made it into preservation a few years ago but I'm not certain which one.

Very early days of Birmingham Coach Company on the (X)16:

and

The service was originally officially X16, but in practice the X was not often to be seen displayed.
When first ntroduced it was an hourly frequency with a dinner break gap.

Prior to Leyland Nationals a Bedford coach and a Leyland Leopard coach were used.

Subsequently scrapped unfortunately, I'm not sure what happened to the 51 plate Cadets Sanders bought a couple of years back. Other than that, just the 02 Plate Cadet(s) and 52 Plate Darts left at Rotala from buses new to Pete's/BCC.

Can't find a source but I'm sure I read this bus has been subsequently scrapped...

Pretty sure the Sanders ones have already bitten the dust.

Great seeing these pics, memories coming back chasing these leyland nationals with there huge Volvo engines hanging out back on the 120 service , remember the spencer buses well very eye catching, there were the white Benham BMW ones too, and I recall an all over red swb on a N plate with the Volvo treatment it was mint very very nice bus spent a lot of time on the 16 service.
I use to let TWM 16s by to get on these nationals back to Hockley garage, they clean tidy didn't smell funny just far more pleasant place to be.
