DeCourcey OSJ 605R on 58 service?

Anyone got any info on the 58 service that this DeCourcey Leopard is operating on?

The streetlight looks very much like a classic Birmingham one due to the style of the metal column with it's resting arm, and the fitting on top is a Birmingham style "Chinese Hat" one.

However I can't recall DeCourcey ever being on the Birmingham 58, of which the Coventry Road services is the only one I can think of.

There's another DeCourcey bus on the service 58 on Tony's website which is parked in the same place: http://www.wmbusphotos.com/DeCourcey/OJD129R.html

When I saw the picture at first, it reminded me of the Norman Place road terminus in Coundon, Coventry.

On the second picture, there looks like there are destinations at the bottom of the window. I can see the "City Centre" one clearly, but the name above it does look like either "Sheldon" or "Coundon".

On a quick google map search, it looks like it is the old 58 terminus at Arden Oak Road, Sheldon: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.4517389,-1.7672337,3a,75y,6.37h,73.74t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sRNZ0jL-thsIJZ4wIjYNI7w!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

The same lampost is in the picture if you flip it back to 2011.

So, the service you were thinking of. I never realised DeCourcey ventured into Birmingham at all.

Thanks for finding out the location  :)

Like you I had no idea they ever operated in Birmingham!

In the late eighties early nineties there was a  number of strikes by West Midland travel drivers. A lot of the services were covered by other operators on strike days. I  think this photo is taken on a strike day and would have been on 58 Coventry Road service.

Yes, that's right.  I think it was circa 1988/89.  De Courcey definitely ran on the 58 on strike days - I travelled on a De Courcey ex-London Fleetline on the 58 once.
