National Express West Midlands / christmas presents
October 12, 2012, 08:18:27 PM
So... What would your Ideal Christmas present be from Santa Tony this year? (keep it clean!!)...My favourite ? If he can arrange for 7031 to be on the 66 and come past my house around 2'o'clock (ish) some time soon..  I might send him a card :) :)......

The Archive / spell check facility
September 21, 2012, 02:40:02 PM
Nice idea...unfortunately when you click on the correct spelling option and return to the page you need to remember where the mistake was AND the correct spelling option(s)...? in other words,  (unlike the E mail spell checker) the correction(s) are not automated... ::) ::) ???

The Archive / Service Information
September 06, 2012, 11:48:29 AM
I notice many small bus operators are now showing a premium rate number at bus stops where you can get real-time service information from a mobile phone. Is this approach likely to be introduced by WM anytime in the near future? ie. as a replacement for the current,(and often hopelessly inaccurate) 'Bus Due' Display boards?... :-\

The Archive / scania omnilinks
August 21, 2012, 08:23:53 PM
Anyone know why the omnilink vehs 1844 to 1847 are listed as B44? and not B43 like all the others?...Used the 66A today with 7032 (am)-  Is it my imagination or do these (Ex dundee) vehs have a longer wheelbase than the volvo B7's?- they seem to be moving around a bit more now...7022 on the 28, 7024 on the 7, 7026 and 7032 on the 66A today, with B10's back on the 907! well, off peak at least..

The Archive / 66A service
July 10, 2012, 02:30:24 AM
I noticed at least two 66A services operated by Blue diamond on Sunday (8th) ? is this a one off ? or do they regularly provide cover for other (WM) Sunday services as well??

where have the captions 'settling in-lots of posts-reached the ton' ect come from? any particular reason? personaly I would have chosen a caption like "I wanna tell you a story"  or "At home on the sleepers" (rail fans) or "Any permitted route"- " A Busmans Holiday "ect . Does Anyone have any better Ideas?  8)

The Archive / 'new' bus museum Aldridge
June 30, 2012, 02:29:18 AM
The ex Aston manor bus museum was meant to have an 'open' day on Jubilee Tuesday (5th June)  Unfortunately I was away on holiday- did anyone go? or have you been recently? Do they have a catalogue of old West mids bus/tram Photo's? maybe if they did they could sell them at a £1 each? (or more). You could buy an 8x6 frame from the 99p shop.

The Archive / Dogs on buses?
June 11, 2012, 12:23:52 AM
I can't remember if WM have a 'Dog' acceptance policy on buses these days- I do know that some operators will refuse to carry dogs (other than Blind dogs) on any service. I did see a complaint notice in the press recently- where someone had been refused access with her dog due to 'company policy' . The significant factor here was that the bus was actually a RAIL replacement bus.? surely if a dog(s) were admitted on the train that the bus service was meant to replace then you would have every right to complain? :o

The Archive / chrome trident handles
June 08, 2012, 05:59:09 PM
can anyone explain the original idea for the chrome/stainless near side 'handles' fitted to some/most of the BC tridents? I notice 4619 does, but there is an early shot of 4620 taken by tony where it appears to be fitted, but a later view of the same bus appears to have lost it?

Can someone tell me the route of the 72? I assume it goes direct to Castle vale (north) but does it call at Asda? or is that just the 71?    I'm thinking the NEW b7's,( ie AG)  would be the only 'new' vehicles to exit dale end via Albert st- am I right?  ie from 2099- up

The Archive / re-cv enviros
May 31, 2012, 06:51:07 PM
I noticed several of the NEW CV enviros buzzing around pool meadow with what appears to be some sort of orange band across the front? does anyone know if there's any special reason?-I think 4834 might have been one of them.

The Archive / 'Hit' records?
May 22, 2012, 01:43:43 PM
F.a.o tony. we can all see how many times a 'post' has been viewed-no problem, but do you have any Idea how little/often your rail photographs actually get viewed...? Esp old steam phots from a bygone era which not only out- dates (most?) of the forum members but may not be suitable for what is, (predominantly) a bus enthusiasts site ?? Would it be poss for one of your admin colleagues to introduce a totaly separate board for rail enthusiasts? there are many of us who have an interest in both bus and rail maybe, personaly I would put my interest 60-40 in favour of rail-but there simply Is'nt enough of us... where's the support??

The Archive / bus museum open day
May 12, 2012, 08:34:53 PM
I expect there were a good few people who had not been to sandy lane before-but would you go again? I think the time and effort to produce a show in a confined space was admirable, but personaly I would have liked to have seen more old coaches. but maybe I.m Biased. the vehicles  that were on display were,of course, predominantly museum CARS. I could only find One Early Humber (Snipe?).. I would have thought maybe a sceptre/Hawk considering these would have been made localy.

The Archive / rail photography.
May 12, 2012, 01:57:35 AM
I once met a well known rail photographer by the name of 'Cam' camwell when I was a member of SLS (stephenson loco Society) we had a meeting room at coventry station which most of us locals would attend once a month. He often gave us a film show of his work which would include a good variety of steam loc's all over britain. He lived in handsworth If I remember correctly, I think he passed away in the 1980's- but I'm sure his memories (and his films) may have been passed down to the next generation. I have many B/w Prints (5x3) from the mid 60's, (ALL of which are my own work) I would be more than happy to share these views on line.( I will need to get them loaded up professionaly to a USB if thats Poss??

as reported before I believe the PB scania (ex Dundee) have had new Ticket machines and in use on the 28 (7022/26/27) seen today around 3.45. can anyone tell me if the two AG scanias (7019/20 also have new machines and are they too confined to a specific service?

The Archive / (NXWM) coaches
May 07, 2012, 03:24:58 PM
I have never really been 'into' coaches,(all a bit of a mystery to me i'm afraid) I assume the coach list prepared by tony is for NXWM OWNED buses only?I'm guessing there are/may be many other coach co/operators licenced to carry the Nat Ex logo? I was sure I saw another coach recently )on a '10' plate with the last 3 letters ?KN-definately carrying the NX branding.

The Archive / Clean air
May 06, 2012, 06:22:00 PM
One thing I have learnt to appreciate in recent years is clean air on buses! In my youth I would often be chasing a West Brom Transport (pale blue/yellow) service on a frosty morning to get to work.Climbing the stairs only to be confronted with a Bonfire of fags/smoke .The lower deck was non smoking but you could never get a seat.anyone had similar experiences? or should I say- Ring any bells :)

I was told some time ago that the anti clockwise 11a service was operated by AG and the clockwise service operated by PB- does this arrangement still stand?
