Tony,

Jumping the gun here as I know you've only asked for any corrections for 2001-2075 but I can see that there are vehicle histories for 2076-2085 too. This batch of 10 are listed as being new to Quinton (other sites such as WMT2944's Flickr site say the same) but I'm sure they were new to PB, and moved to QN when they were a few months old.

I started secondary school in September 1980 and remember catching these to and from school on the 11. I recall them as along with 7006/7 they were the earliest Metrobuses on the Outer Circle.

Here are a couple of pictures of 2077 and 2083 when nearly new with the black skirts the Mk1s were delivered with, on routes PB 46 and 91 respectively.

Happy to be corrected on this if others know better.

Cheers

Tony,

On the front page of the main website, there seems to be a "time machine" with the dates of the "Latest photographs added":

25th April 2020
27th April 2020
28th April 2020
27th April 2020

I know the lockdown is dragging on, but for dates to go backwards, that will make it feel even longer than it is;-)

Some good photos though.

Many thanks

How come metrobus 2185 was based in so many garages in its early years? Was it a promotional vehicle of some sort?

Because of its adverts as pictured. One bus would be painted then keep moving garage to spread the advert around

Great photos and garage history info. Please do keep these updates coming.

One minor point on 2137. This one passed to Quinton along with 2138 and 2139 on Dudley's closure on July 1993 (the current history shows it at Dudley from 1989 before being loaned to Bee Line in Sept 1994).

Metrobus 2381 is in the same photo of 2255 so that could possibly be used for that one.

The allocations for 2278 show it going to reserve in Jan-1992 and being sold in Mar-2002. I am sure it was at PB from Sep-1997 until withdrawn in Mar-2002 and I think it was at WB in the mid 1990s?

Also you have buses moving from Coventry Rd to other depots in Oct-1986. I am sure that Coventry Rd closed a year earlier (25th Oct 1985).

Thanks for putting this work in. The allocation histories bring back happy memories!

Many thanks for finding any errors. If you spot any Coventry Road ones in 1986 would you mind making a note of the fleetnumbers so I can recheck them please

2187-2193 and 2334 are the ones I have seen so far.

Also there do not appear to be any histories for 2210, 2346, 2347 and 2353.

I'll second that - great to see the allocation histories. A lot of the many vehicle movements were news to me. It was so much more interesting when there were lots of smaller local garages.

Tony, a couple of small observations on some of the histories:

2333 is showing as new to Hockley - I think it was new to Liverpool Street (along with all of the 2326 to 2360 batch)?
2375-2378 are showing as transferred from Hockley to Quinton in 4/86. I'm sure that these 4 moved to Harborne first in Oct/Nov 1985 along with 2373/4 (the histories for 2373/4 are correct) before then moving to Quinton soon after when Harborne closed in 4/86.

Hope you don't mind these pedantic observations. I can only really offer any input on HE/QN vehicles I'm afraid, my knowledge was very centred on the garages local to me.

Yes the histories information is very useful and interesting, thanks for your hard work on doing this. Would you ever consider doing a post 1986 book about WMT and it's successes similar to what Malcolm Keeley did with his book about the West Midland up to 1986 as it would be great to have an up to date reference book about all the vehicles used since then (I can appreciate this would be very time consuming though so may not be viable).

Another Mystery I have come across doing these Histories.

Where is 2932?

I have no trace of it since sale in 2007 but it was still passing MoTs up to 2013 and is still SORN today.

Does anyoneone know where it has been or is?
