I don't get the 63 and X61 myself, especially long distance, but does anybody know if the X61 is much quicker during peaks?
Local Routes: 002, 39/39A, X21, 46, 76.
Localish Routes: 18, 23, X22.

Probably not, but at the same time neither is the X51 much quicker than the 51 at the height of the peak
But people still catch it because it stops less

Would you say more people get the X61 than the 61?

I'm unsure actually. The majority of people get on the first bus that come- at least in selly oak they did. The x61 does seem quieter when I see it to the 63, but may have been a one off

Difference between X51 / 51 and X61 / 61 is that the X51 can make good use of 2 underpasses and 2 fly overs where as the Bristol Rd doesnt have the benefit of these.

The X61 is just as busy as the 63 in my opinion, although the X61 isnt as frequent. A lot of people using the 63 travel beyond Northfield to Longbridge and Rubery.

I have drove the X61 travelling towards City from Northfield and beyond and been behind a 63 and lots of people will let the 63 go to get on the X61, maybe making use of the wifi or the fact it makes less stops?

Really? Even though you have both the X61 and to a lesser extent the 63 to Frankley from Northfield? Also baring in mind the 29 is only every 30 mins at that point.

Seriously though height of rush hour most times make sod all difference, and some stops take forever to load at, there have been plenty of times I'll let a 51 go to catch the X51 parked just behind and by the time I get off in town and cross over the same 51 has caught up

If you live around the Holly Hill Road / Frogmill area of Frankley you only really have the 29 or 49 unless you want to walk it to the X61 route. I'd suspect most people wanting to travel into the city centre would change onto a 63/X61 in Northfield - if you stay on the 29 you'd have had your next birthday by the time you reached the city.

Haha. It is true though as Mike said the 63 is of no use to people who live in Holly Hill Rd / Frogmill area.
The 29 and 49 provide a link to Allens Cross and Northfield and Harborne (29). For some people further up Holly Hill Rd and Frogmill the X61 is too far a walk.

I used to get the 29 too and from Northfield a while back and it wasn't that bad, but that was when it terminated on Bell Lane.
Is the Harborne - Frankley connection well used at all?
