Quote from: Stu on November 13, 2023, 08:02:26 PMThe priority will be to withdraw any non Euro6 vehicles which have to be gone by the end of January 2024, then inroads will be made into the OmniLinks in the fleet.

Tony's fleet list has one batch of 30 EVs which I believe are built and awaiting delivery, then a further batch of 10 which I'm not sure about, but I would guess are also built, which would mean a total of 40 new buses which could be delivered and in service by the end of January, which would see the end of non-Euro6 vehicles if your figures are correct.

The pace of delivery of the remaining 240 EVs will depend on getting chargers and infrastructure installed at garages that are due to receive EVs.

The early E400s might have at least a couple of years service left in them I would think.

Well, are they saying that Perry Barr will have the new electrics, possibly leading to the early E400s withdrawal by the end of the year?

It's the middle of November now, no new buses will enter service this year, and apart from any major incidents there will be no withdrawals this year.

Nobody is saying the early E400S are going to be withdrawn at all. When Perry Barr receive there electrics next year the E400s will get shipped out or maybe even platinums to other depots to replace Geminis and Tridents and scanias after all they are older. Or better still just wait and see

What? You mean they're not owned by NX?....Wow I genuinely didn't know that, in fact I didn't think anything that old could still be leased

You can lease anything, as long as you are willing to pay the going rate.

Yes I mean they are not owned by NX, same as the new electrics and some Scanias

Thanks for clarification, @Tony.

Are the Scanias the 10 Reg (1909-1953 and 70xx) batches?

@Tony has already confirmed the next batch of electrics comprises 80 vehicles, @Stu

Or... they will move the e400s to other depots to displace alx400s,geminis and omnilinks and not just withdraw them on the spot

So 4334 won't get withdrawn then in December?

The Walsall 4 are slightly different as they are purely covering for the Hydrogen fuelling problem

I love it too - in fact the whole 2009 E400 batch (4799-815; 4817-29), which I'll forever remember in their washed out pink and white livery as inflicted by Pensnett garage!! I seem to recall the batch may have been leased originally, and there was concern over their mileage accumulation on the 9 and 99 (now X10). So if they were expected to operate for 15 yrs, that would expire next year.

The current approx state of play, as far as I can tell, based on Bustimes for groups of vehicles subject to withdrawal is:-

Omnilink - 146
Trident - 56 (8 non Euro 6)
Gemini - 65 (33 non Euro 6)

If there are 300 new buses then more than just those listed above may be withdrawn. Plus if all the hydrogens are in service that would be an extra 15 vehicles.

So in a roundabout way, is it possible the ex Pensnett pale pink and white 30 (E400s) might be replaced over the next year or two?
yes 6988 is well stripped now, engine gearbox is in 6955 in think, various panels lights removed etc lower seats , just axles and remainder of body left now

looking at the frontal damage to 1940 even though 1945 1946 could donate all the parts to repair it, i think the running will be removed in short order my guess.

The driver of 1940 RTC incident hagley road released from hospital and resting at home, small miracle no other persons injured or vehicles involved.

Tony

Unfortunately 4334 has developed a fault that is not worth repairing for the two remaining weeks of its MoT
