It clearly should've been 25.

Why not 64 and 64A like the 67A,71A I wonder.

They both take an odd route. Going all around the wreckon. They could have made the FD stretch up to the warehouse.

Whoever comes up with these doesn't know how to kill 2 birds with 1 stone as they say.

It's odd because of the X prefix, which stands for express. The 65 and 67 serve the Lichfield Road and the X buses in that area i.e. the X3/4/5, serve the Aston Expressway. You've now got the X64 taking the same 'non-express' route as the 65 and 67.

68 would have been a better choice.

I was thinking the same, I don't get the x part at all. I'm assuming this is a subsidised service paid for by Peddimore, maybe they chose it.

its probably because its a direct version of the 64, seeing that the 64 serves bromford after the fort, the X64 just goes straight into castle vale (and doesnt stop at the ASDA)

I was thinking that. 68 is available which would've been a better choice. Especially as like the 67 it serves Castle Vale.

Isn't there meant to be a 68 service also launching as well, as per the TfWM N&Ps

All opinions and onions mentioned on here are mine and not those of any employer, current, past, present or future, or presented as fact, unless I prove it otherwise.

No, I'm guessing any 'planned' 68 service ended up becoming the 64 and X64.

My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

64 looks like a part replacement of the 25 as it runs hourly and for the same time as the 25 used to

But unless I'm confused here the old BC 25 never ran anywhere near this area so it isn't a replacement at all

There was the Hodge Hill to Erdington 25. (curtailed from Ward End to Erdington). Which ran under diamond operation for many years. Then laterly solus coaches where it was merged with the 600 until withdrawal in 2023.
Especially if they install stops along Bromford Road it would partially restore that link (a stop by collingbourne avenue which the 25 served and and additional one further up by Radstock Avenue would make sense).
You'd hope this service will be a bit better patronised than the 25 was though.

The solus coaches 25 timetable is actually still on bus times.
One of the main reasons for its downfall was probably there being more frequent services not to far away like the 11, 28 and X12.
