Merc on 126

Wonder whats going on today :/

People making april fools up?

That was the general idea tony :) For one E400H's can't go on the 62/A due to not having transponders fitted to activate the Perton Bus Link bollard :)

1670 just required extensive engineers attention on the 81 in WN bus station, the Mercs are really starting to wear out now it seems and now its 586's turn!

Yes there is a brand new one on the floor outside the office.

It can be done at anytime and it takes 3 days

It's always 586's turn to pack up

In other news

5510 was on 255's this afternoon (15:20 ex WN bus station)

586 was back in service on the 81 this afternoon.

620 worked peak 59 board 59/14 this afternoon. In recent weeks the afternoon peak board has been predominantly a trident or a B7RLE. Obviously neither were available this afternoon so 620 was put out :). I suppose I would take a B6 over a B5 though ;)

Do the engines took out go for rebuild? Would assume there is a programme of rebuild/replacement dependant on hours run? Or is it as and when needed ?
Preserving a bit of West Midlands heritage with 1037 and 1849.

The engine was took straight out of 1654 and put straight into 1515 at pensnett

DOC37V,

The engines are replaced when required. Cummins take the old ones away and rework them.

Can anyone tell me who uses BC's E400H's  (drives or passenger) what condition they are in generally?

Cheers

I haven't driven one for about 3 months, but 3 months ago they were in excellent condition

Yesterday I travelled on both the WN Hybrid's and the BC's! All the E400's were avoiding me though from both garages, think I went on 5515, 5517, 5501 and 5509 from memory. I am a huge fan of the B5's, though the BC ones do seem slightly quicker, apart from 5516 which last couple of times I have been on goes like a rocket!

Both garages seem to keep them pretty clean and tidy, the BC's benefit from the on bus cleaning at Colmore Row though which helps and perhaps slightly less anti-social behaviour, some etching is creeping onto WN's.

One slight moan though, is there anything that can be done to stop the next stop display scrolling screen upstairs, on the B5's in particular from rattling quite so badly, perhaps tighten the bolts a little or put some padding in the gap where they sometimes knock against the window

Rode one on Saturday and they seem in good nick :).  If only WN were to possibly have them......

In WN today:
626 on the 59 this morning and this afternoon (Peak board 59/09 this morning and afternoon peak board 59/14 this afternoon).

About 16:10 4313 was taken off the 59 (board 59/02) and put onto a 529 trip as far as Willenhall

As I suspected 4313 has been put back onto the 59 after being taken off o do a 529E trip to Willenhall this afternoon.

Excellent condition. Still majorly As-New (As in, not much wear, anywhere across the vehicles). Does help them sticking to own routes and rarely venturing out of bounds. Don't know the mileage difference but could be a few thousand.. [Seems to be a fair few constantly parked in BC, or was, when I was there]

One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.
