It was one of the two buses involved in an accident in Wolverhampton garage, the other I think was an Enviro200

Not sure who you 'heard' that from, but the X7/X8 today were 6776; 6777; 6780; 6781; 6787 & 6789

Also the X7 doesn't run on Sundays. So its impossible.
Those would have only been on the X8.

The X7 is being withdrawn from 2nd June.
Extra journeys on the X8 are being introduced between Dudley and Wolverhampton.
