Reading this I went to check the Wolverhampton map, because I was sure that Pattingham was, like Perton, Codsall, Wombourne and Kinver, a part of Staffs that allows NWM passes

Turns out I was wrong, and yet all the times I've used my pass on Arriva buses out there it's scanned perfectly happily (ooops). I'd guess NX would ensure they're not accepted across the border

Interesting that on those posters it mentions that "unfortunately Arriva see operating a shuttle bus during the summer", almost as if NX are having a pop at Arriva. And yet Arriva are running the shuttle to give Staffs CC time to sort a replacement
Now in exile in Oxfordshire....

Yeah, Travel West Midlands served the old 517 and 538.

Additionally, there was the old 537 that went from Wolverhampton to Bridgnorth via Pattingham, Burnhill Green, Backbury, Ryton, Grindle, Kemberton, Brockton, Sutton Maddock, Stockton, Odlington, Lower Allscott, and Fenn Gate. According to Claire Pendrous, this was a long and twisty route that served isolated communities. I'm sure WMT / TWM did serve the old 516 as well?

Don't recall a 538, but wasn't the 537 one of the routes 'inherited' from Stevensons?

don

In the early 1970s WMPTE ran a number of routes from Wolverhampton into neighbouring counties to the north and west - they had generally been inherited from Wolverhampton CT - when the Midland Red Black Country and Birmingham routes were taken over in Decenber 1973, most of these routes transferred the other way, to Midland Red and were renumbered into their 8xx series. A key route involved was 17, Wolverhampton to Bridgnorth, which was operated by such exotic single deckers as Daimler Roadliners and AEC Reliances in WMPTE livery.

So there is quite a history of operations from Wolverhampton to those areas.

In the early 90s Midland Red ( probably Tellus rather than Chaserider) ran the Pattingham service and weirdly always used a tinted window Duple Laser Tiger coach on it for some bizarre reason!

Just found a picture on Flickr. Tellus G612 CFA on 516 in Wolverhampton Bus Station in 1992 (credit to Walsall1955): https://flic.kr/p/8z7t6Y

Also, in the search results, I have found this - P318 FEA was branded for the 516. :o Credit to Walsall1955: https://flic.kr/p/9sLbYF

I am managing to do a few updates to the main site on this old laptop in Dundee, so expect photos of the WN E400s working in Carnoustie on Tuesday. MY first day working on them is an evening turn tomorrow.

4166 is working from WN on the 1 today. I'm assuming it is another Trident drafted in to cover for the hybrids but i don't mind being corrected by those in the know.

EDIT: 4176 is another one to add to the list of 41**'s at Park Lane. It's on the 69 this afternoon

Noted at East Dock Street at 1310 were 5402, 5412, 5415, 5416, 5417 and 5418.

I shall be in Carnoustie in the latter half of this week snapping the Park & Rides.

Correct on both, 4183 also turned up. 4340 is also here as a fleet addition.

Looks like the 951 route extension is coming along nicely (in-joke to old WMBUS yahoo group members)

5421 has Edinburgh via Heathrow Airport, Birmingham and Manchester programmed into the blinds.

Southern extension a surprise!

Ah yes, I remember the 951D well - presumably it'll be just the occasional peak journeys that extend to / from Dundee?

DJ

2078 is on the 1, not sure how noteworthy that is due to the Hybrids being away.

Any views/comments are my own and do not reflect those of my employer.
