I quite fancy turning a Solo into a Hot Rod.

Failing that, I've got designs on 1743, which I would love to return to as-new-to-TWM plain white condition with its front wheel-trims gleaming.

Well you'll have to get ZF to look at its gearbox, when I was on it last week its downshifts were horrendous, almost bordering on un driveable as when breaking and changing down it would jolt terribly forwards shaking both passengers and fittings, it was rattiling like mad

1743 is probably my least favourite older Merc in the fleet

For me it would have one of the first series of the Mercs, in fact if I was rich (i'm not!) I would get a representative selection!! 1585 is the very first one I ever travelled on so would be a candidate. 1515 is the class leader so another candidate. 1518 a bus I love getting a spin in. 1523 the first all-Merc so another candidate. 1540 another great bus and the first in Coventry in Primeline "tartan quilt" livery. 1558 and 1610 two Coventry buses that I really like- no other reason needed! 1599 a bus that seems to almost follow me around on my visits as if its trying to tell me something!! There aren't any of them that I wouldn't be proud to preserve so wouldn't rule any good example out.

nx mercs are some of the small amount purchased in this country. How rare would that make the bendibus version????
.

I dount if a low floor Merc will be preserved if no NXWM one is kept, so they'll just be forgotten. B6s were fairly common in many fleets, though the B10L is rare enough so it'd be good to see one of those kept too.

I do kind of miss 1429, with its unusual green and yellow interior trim. Still never found out the story behind that.

I think that was an experiment moquette and yellow grab rails. Obviously not a sucess

Wasnt it to do with blind people? They can see bright colours or something, high contrast?

One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.
