This operator already runs service 355 between Worcester and Droitwich but now are moving into the West Midlands having appeared to have won the 147.

Hi all, nice to see Kev's on the forum. 147 service starts operating 26 February probably using one of the existing Primo's. The service has been extended to Bromsgrove rail station from Halesowen. Our first service the 355 has been a huge success increasing passenger numbers by over 20% in the first year due I think to service reliability, vehicle reliability and excellent, no brilliant, drivers.  Any question ask away on the forum

Vehicle reliability and primo shouldn't really be in the same paragraph lol.
Good luck with your new service maybe consider extending it to merry hill to provide a long lost link.

Thanks for the good wishes.
We have had two Primos for over 12 months now with no major problems and in a former life I ran several of them and they still appear to be going today. Good vehicles with good passenger comments but like everything it all depends on how you look after them

I'm glad to see the 147 being extended to the railway station.

I always found it off that it only went as far as Catshill and then had a really long layover time.

Is the route bring kept the same into Halesowen (via Hayley Green)?

Post by: igogeneral on January 23, 2018, 04:51:38 PM
The route into Halesowen is to be direct from Romsley into the bus station. This is on direction of the awarding body who I suppose have used the saved time in order to enable the extension into Bromsgrove Rail Station. Do not think this will seen as a disadvantage by regular users who will arrive earlier into the Town Centre, only time will tell.

Ah lovely. I'm glad the 147 Will now be running direct between Romsley and Halesowen, and the extension back to Bromsgrove and further to the railway station will restore some previous connections. I hope it is a success!

This revised service has turned out to be exactly what I thought should of happened two years ago at the time FMR withdrew, hurrah...

a two-hourly service between Bromsgrove Rail Station and Halesowen which, where it combines with 318, will enhance the service between Bromsgrove Rail and Catshill to hourly in the off peak.  I would be surprised if the Romsley area etc. gets anything better.

Due to a clerical problem the wrong timetable was issued. This is now corrected and a new registration sent to T/C. Sorry to confuse but new timetable attached

Interesting that the timetable suggests you're going through the Oakalls estate to and from the rail station, does that mean routing via Finstall?
Title: Re: Kev's Cars & Coaches
Post by: sonic84 on January 27, 2018, 12:18:55 PM
I would imagine it will run in and out of Oakalls via Regents Park Road and then via The Bromsgrove bypass to the railway station.

I just noticed there are no longer any morning peaks from Romsley to Bromsgrove or Halesowen.
Title: Re: Kev's Cars & Coaches
Post by: igogeneral on January 28, 2018, 10:43:15 PM
The route will now go in and out by the same route thus serving Oakalls both ways which seems sensible to me.
According to data picked up by the present operator the average load on the early morning journeys is less than 1 on average so the Council felt it not economical to run

2 minutes at Halesowen but 24 at Bromsgrove Station and yes, we have acquired 4xPrimo from EYMS which they had owned from new. 147 went well today with Mr Scerri at the helm.
2 drivers needed if anyone interested at hourly rate in excess of any local operators.

Not from Halesowen town centre, no. Worcestershire's Connecta tickets are strictly within county boundary only. There was a precise list of boundary stops somewhere on the county council website originally but like a lot of its transport info it seems to have disappeared or not been updated for a very long time.

Although I have previously caught the 007 when Central Buses ran it and the driver sold me one at Halesowen, so you might just get lucky sometimes

I would have thought all Worcestershire County Council contracts stipulate that a DDA compliant vehicle is provided at all times however?

Just done the same, and I have to agree those seats are horrible. Originally thought it was kinda comfortably padded but the angle and the headrest proved otherwise
There was just me on board for this journey but 8 people boarded in Halesowen, so over half full already haha

Aye, it very quickly became apparent that those seats are not really designed for adults.  I did it the other way from Bromsgrove station, was pretty empty until Romsley when it got very cosy, particularly on ther back row, luckily I think they all knew one another!  Solo performed well up the hills however, although I do think those little Solo SR SEs are very odd to look at, like they came free in a box of cornflakes...

3.3v Smart Media cards, formatted to FAT. You need to buy a reader for them too.

You could always look on eBay for USB units and just swap them, sell on the older units. There is one seller currently advertising five for sale. (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mobitec-ICU400-Full-Working-Order-LED-flip-dot-compatible-6-AVAILABLE/112875319328?hash=item1a47e4b020:g:zQIAAOSwdYRanWrY)

We are taking our time with these vehicles. Hopefully in the summer two will be re-built and the other two used as spares for the remainder of the fleet. All 4 have good working engines, gear boxes and angle drives as you would expect coming from EYMS. We also purchased all EYMS Primo spares from their parts department and therefore anyone looking for parts we may be able to help.

Wrong. The loads on the 147 are not that good and I suspect never will be. No I am pleased to announce KEV'Sbus will be operating the 318 Stourbridge to Bromsgrove service commencing 2 September 2018 using fairly new Optare Solo 35 seats. This will fit in well with 147 both of which serve Catshill

I think the 147 will be tough to build up. Once WCC reduced the frequency and operated it to Catshill only (rather useless terminus) it must have forced people to making alternative arrangements.

Good luck with the 318!

Correct Fleetline6477, we have other uses for the second bus as you would imagine. The present first departure from Stourbridge has been withdrawn by Worcester who now only require it to commence service from Belbroughton at 07.58 to Bromsgrove Bus station, not sure why but would imagine poor loadings from Stourbridge

Alot of Worcestershire County Councils contracts are gross cost so all revenue taken goes back to the County Council. I'm not sure if the 318 has been awarded on this basis or not, but if it has then I'm not sure why the operator would worry providing they are meeting the capacity criteria stated within the contract

Does anyone know how much it'd cost to get from Halesowen to Bromsgrove Railway Station and back on the 147? I'd catch the train but with the ongoing disruption on the southern Cross City, it seems like it'll be just as easy to get the bus the whole way there.

You are not looking very hard then. I also suggest you look at other bus routes operated by any company at the start or end of their routes, such as Longbridge, and you may not see many passengers. Next time you are around spend some time in Northfield for a different perspective. In the first week of KEVSbus operation 39 and 42 exceeded TfWM expectations, I am told that is not a surprise !!

Sorry to disappoint but we only have three at the moment OTW, OTY and OTZ. We do not have any others on order, I do not take Coach and Bus any longer so not able to see the item.

Ah right, I was surprised by it as wondered why you needed another. It was in the fleetnews section of 'Buses' Magazine

Are you talking about the same magazine?
.
I've no idea of the accuracy of "Coach and Bus (weekly)" but "Buses" did seem to be the target of deliberate duff gen, but  seems to have largely weeded it out.

Just seen an interesting site at northfield station, it was a white E200MMC didn't see the reg or if it had branding but that would indicate that Kevs cars and coaches are looking at the 19 Rubery to Maypole.

Or more likely have been the 10:41am 38 operating Northfield - Selly Oak.

Absolutely right hence why I say they are driver training the 19 maybe even to see if the E200MMC's fit around the route?

Why would they need to see if SWB E200MMC's would fit around the 19 when Diamond Redditch have typically been using buses of the same size?

Good point, although if the steering rotation is the same as NXWM's E200MMMC's then it may struggle in places, also might be to see if the E200MMC'S are suitable because of several speed bumps and pot holes in the road.

Do you mean turning circle? NXWM E200MMC's are full length, Kev's are 29 seaters SWB (same length as Solo SR's IGO used). Shouldn't be an issues, the 19 is up for re-tender, I suspect Diamond will be keen to retain it, as it employs 4 buses iirc

I know Kevs E200MMC's are SWB's but the turning circle is shocking on NXWM's so if its the same it could pose a few problems in places. Oh and Btw I hate to correct people but its actually 5 buses and not 4 for the 19.

The turning circle tends to be better on the SWB compared to the longer wheel based E200s, so would assume it'd be the same with the MMCs. The LWB MMCs at LandFlight actually have a better turning circle than the older E200s.

I don't see them being any different to any of SWB E200's, they have no problem negotiating tight residential streets. I was working on the 4 x 63 Solo SR's that Igo purchased for the route.

Interestingly went on the 318 from Stourbridge to Oldwinford today. I have to ask, have the drivers been taught the route and places along the route.

I asked for Oldswinford and the driver seemed to think it was in Catshill and he asked for £2.60 for the journey. When I pointed out it wasn't near there, after some fiddling about with the ticket machine, he found Pedmore and duly charged me £1. Am not blaming the driver because the ticket machine seems very vague about the calling points of the bus.

Maybe more fare stages are needed so that the drivers are aware of calling points!

@igogeneral Maybe it wasn't one of the regular drivers then, hadn't seen the chap before.

When i told him in the past I had paid a £1 (which is an ultra reasonable fare) he managed to find it on the screen.

Registration of the 19 service, Maypole to Morrisons Rubery included in N&P today. Slight timetable changes which includes the same timetable Monday to Saturday instead of the present different Saturday. Also will be terminating at Morrisons instead of Great Park in order to give passengers more choice. Any drivers living in the area looking for a 4 day week, new vehicles, competitive rates of pay on a five year contract then get in touch for October 27th start.

If I remember correctly , YX06HVM went for scrap - after component recovery - last December. One other was also donating parts and the "plan" was to get the other two up and running as and when. Not sure if that has changed though. I'm sure igogeneral will be able to confirm.
Title: Re: Kev's Cars & Coaches
Post by: igogeneral on October 27, 2019, 03:05:02 PM
You are of course correct, it is GOA. LXP has a blown engine and when we get around to it it will be replaced. KNW not given fleet number at this time as it will probably stay in reserve. Due to the awful weather the last few days fleet numbers not yet applied to vehicles but will be soon. Already for tomorrows start on the 19 service, all training completed so the rest is down to the drivers some of whom are new to the route. Thankfully roads should be quiet due to half term so gives them more of a chance.

I am making this statement on this forum as I know that many bus enthusiasts visit it on a regular basis. If Tony or any other of the moderators think it is out of order then I apologise in advance.

Yesterday one of our drivers left the business as a result of a certain member of the forum taking a video along the length of the 19 route and posting it on Facebook. I will not go into why the driver left other than to say that the video was an intrusion into his privacy and that of other passengers on the vehicle.

We welcome comments on this forum and others about the business however, in future, anyone carrying out unauthorised filming on any KEV's Bus or Coach will be asked to cease or to leave the vehicle.

I am sorry to take this stance but good drivers are hard to get so losing them to someone else's thoughtless action is difficult to accept.

No problem with you posting this. I am not a fan of people filming the inside of vehicles showing other people. Lothian have banned this practise and if you want to record the route and the performance of the vehicle surely pointing the camera out of the window is more interesting anyway.

Everyone please remember on the street taking photos and video is perfectly legal, but once you are in private property the owner can set the rules

Sadly a reflection of our times a brand new bus from a hard working operator mindlessly attacked so our thoughts with Kevs management some of us appreciate thier work on the 147 & 318 were not all mindless idiots I was on a PN6 Streetdeck when it was bricked in Dudley it's just so common today perhaps Kevs should follow WMT and put a protective film on its windows if this is to become a regular issue on TfWM services for its passengers safely it's so sad.

Oh my god, someone bricked a bus, that means the bus service would be delayed, well that must only mean the bus company is completely not fit for purpose and they should be embarrassed by the service they run....

Kevs are an excellent bus and coach company providing a first class bus service to Halesowen and Hagley some another bus company based in Birmingham could learn a lot from the professionalism of this Worcestershire operator why anyone would comment they are not fit for purpose and should be embarrassed by the service they run is beyond comprehension.

Not disputing that at all, just using your logic of a bus being delayed proving that the bus company is awful

When I use it from Weoley Castle it's usually the same faces and average numbers of passengers as Igo no great change the 147 seems to carry a few more as Kevs carry on into Bromesgrove while WCC terminated in the middle of an out of town estate thus attracting Halesowen twirlies

The 39/39A is doing well at the moment with a double figure increase compared to the first week of operation as is the 19. The problem of course is that when multiple trips on a 30 minute headway service over several months are lost then passengers will search for other methods of getting from A-B so no matter who the new operator is it will take time to rebuild confidence. Since the start of our operation Kev's have lost only a handful of trips some of which have been down to vandalism especially in the Quinton, Four Dwellings area. Whatever the earlier respondent feels you cannot run a bus in service with a broken window and you cannot always have buses parked around the corner to cover for such eventualities.

New machines due 23 February but only on TfWM routes as Worcester CC have no plans for new technology at the moment. All TfWM routes operated by Kev's will be contactless.

As a regular user of the 39 it is such a sad reflection of society that some feel its "cool" to  attack a bus and I personally thank Kevs for the professional manner they take in thier approach to this and other TfWM contracts and a big thanks to embrassing Swift for the benefit of all.

Have the new machines been bought by TfWM and given to operators as there have been quite a few operators who have switched to them in the past few weeks?

No, the machines have not been bought by TfWM. We and other smaller operators have chosen this path in order to provide users with the best possible best value options including new comfortable vehicles. In doing so we hope to increase patronage and then of course profitability. We realise that if we do not do so we will not last the test of time like so many smaller operators before us. Any suggestions that will assist are always welcome.

This is a big investment and I am sure everyone wishes you well - and also the other operators who are doing the same.

As a bus passenger, the big difference new ticket machines makes to me is that when the change is made, buses usually appear in real time on bustimes.org.  Would it be worth putting notices on buses about this, and perhaps doing a press release, pointing out that passengers will be able to see the bus they want to catch?  A press release could also remind the public of the bus services you operate.

Sound idea which we hope that once the roll out is completed TfWM will pick up. If not we will do something once we are happy with reliability.

Just because old machines might look cheap to buy on eBay doesn't mean new machines are the same price.

Ticketer charges a huge amount to convert old machines to a new user, better off buying new to avoid getting caught out.

Plus, those that go on sale are generally the old model which lack contactless support. I know the talk wasn't about old machines, but worth mentioning anyway.

I've heard different figures from different sources hence why I was looking for some clarity. My guess would be around the £700-£1000 mark per machine.

I'm assuming the four operators who have just switched to Ticketer have conducted some sort of combined negotiation with Ticketer for a reduced price, hence the commercial sensitivity.

I'm just wondering what the actual list price is for the machines.

There is enough congestion outside the main entrance without buses taking layover on the stops. We think we have the times correct for the future, lets wait and see.

Hi @igogeneral

When will the website be updated? As currently there are no timetables on the website and most operators would 'normally' put themon their website... Not saying that the website isn't great... It is however it's just missing the timetables for the route that they operate.

The most up to date timetables are on the NWM website.  Whilst some operator websites do have timetables on them, they aren't always up to date.  The latest 53 timetable at Banga hasn't been updated for example.

Hi @Pat

Yes in 'normal times' the timetables on the operators website are normally up to date,  however it's not 'normal times'  at the moment so I don't exprect all operators to have timetables on their website. but as Kevs have never.. I was just wondering if they would eventually add them? I have tried to email them but whith no response to this date.

Interesting that its going down Vincent Drive and the left onto Mindelsohn Way then. As don't think any other service has used that bit of Mindelsohn Way for some time.

Sorry but I had not seen your e mail. We have a web site that is not good and were working on a new one when Covid arrived. We hope to try to get something done by the end of the year but for now please refer to TfWM site or bustimes. We do however start installing CCTV later this week and the TfWM part of our fleet should be fitted by mid February.

Do Kev's not produce their own timetables?  Personally, I find it better to be taken to a PDF version, rather than to another website.

Thanks for adding the links to the timetables on the website @igogeneral.. Will you be producing any timetables in due cause as you don't pay into the TfWM scheme for the 318? I know all the other timetables will be  produced as TfWM editiond (or at lest I think they will be)?

@igogeneral

What I mean is you don't pay into the TfWM scheme for them to produce a printed timetable.. Yes all the links do work from your site to the WMN (TfWM) site. I hope this is more clear for you to answer the question that I asked in my previous post!!! 😁

Thanks Bus Man. I have to be very honest with you, I did not know that TfWM still produced printed timetables but I take it from your post they do. However as all our services are operated as tendered services to either TfWM, mainly, or Worcester CC I would have thought it would be their job to print the timetables at their expense, if they felt there was a need, in order to promote their supported services. I will make further enquiries.

However we have no plans to produce our our timetables, other than those on line, but will provide printed copies on requested from users.

Hi @igogeneral

You have to fisacally sign up to their scheme to have them produce timetables for your services  eventhough they are tendered services... So I assume because you haven't that's why they have discontinued the production of the 318.

They haven't recently due to the amount of changes due to Covid but as far as I know they are going to start producing timetable again from Easter onwards. That's why I'm posting on different topics on here as I an constantly looking at the area maps and their timetables to make sure  both maps are correct

Worcestershire never used to produce any timetables to my knowledge!! 😁 It was always TfWM  or just down to the operator to produce them...
Title: Re: Kev's Cars & Coaches

When I moved to Worcestershire in 2001 Worcestershire used to print several booklets covering all services within a particular local area, e.g. Worcester City, Wyre Forest etc. which you could buy for about 20p. These didn't last much longer after this and I remember querying this with the Passenger Transport Team at the time and they said that because the major operator in the area (i.e. First) was making service changes so often they couldn't keep them up to date.

Of course First, Whittles and some other operators used to produce their own publicity anyway so WCC did produce leaflets for tendered services for a couple of years afterwards, but don't ask me when they stopped doing this, it was definitely several years ago!

Hi @D10

I didn't start collect timetables until 2008 so WCC must have stopped producing the booklets sometime before then.... 😁 This is what I'm saying, as the mojority of operators produce their own timetables there is no point in having two copies of the same timetable (once both have been updated). 😁  So if Kevs were to produce their own timetable but also siging up to the TfWM scheme then there would be waisting money on both things..As they aren't producing their own they might want to sign up to a scheme.. 😁

Interestingly given as fleet number 20 on  the Bustimes tracker. [ Although this site "can" be inaccurate at times. ]

Maybe it should be 201 ? Or as it is 20 it may appear more often on other routes outside the TWM area ?

What ever the reason , I may be being picky , but well done Kevs on further investment.

Sad to say that 4 of our 5 Primo's have gone to scrap today. They are KX08HMC, KX07KNW, KX57FML, KX06LXP.

We have retained KX59GOA on a small Worcester service for the time being but, in a few months time this vehicle will be removed from the fleet. It may be an ideal project for someone who wished to preserve it as as there cannot be many left in the Country. We also have an amount of Primo parts that will go when the bus does. Anyone genuinely interested then let me know

To be honest I think the Primo vehicle has an unjustified bad reputation amongst those that never operated them. Having done so over several years they are much loved by passengers as being open and easy to move about in. As an operator they were cheap to operate and if treated correctly were a reliable workhorse especially on rural operations. The fact that local contractual conditions call for Euro 6 is the only reason we have chosen not to continue their operation

If so, it means Kev's own 25% of all the Tata Hispano Intea's imported to the UK (there were only 8!!).

Thank you to everyone for their concern and support during this pretty awful time. Our fleet of vehicles were 100% euro 6 and all in excellent condition but now all of our bus fleet has gone apart from one Solo, 21 vehicles in total have been lost. Of course it is not simply the vehicles but also Ticketer machines that were fitted to every one of them, CCTV equipment and simple things like operator discs. However we are already planning for next week and hope to have a full service of some sort up and running on Tuesday. Home to school services will operate as normal from Monday. There will be an assortment of different vehicles but we are already in discussion with our leasing Company to replace the fleet but this will take several months. Finally fire brigade investigators have identified the cause as an electric problem in the engine bay of a 33 seat coach.

I want also to pass on Managements thanks to all the members of our staff who came in today and helped get thing sorted despite the devastation around them. Also thanks to the Hereford and Worcester and West Midlands Fire brigade who through there professional expertise managed to save almost all of our coach fleet, premises and workshops which were untouched.

Your continued support is much appreciated and at this time, much needed.

Four Green Bus vehicles out today on 19 and 39. Had to modify timetables and route due to the size of the vehicles but other than a couple of hic ups all gone well so far. 120 on the 38 service and has returned without any tree branches. Once again big big thanks to Ian and his staff and also Tony for getting all this done. All Worcester services out today using a coach, a mini bus and a solo, should have been a good day for spotters !!! Same service tomorrow but we are off to pick up 6 ex London E200 so if they come ready for service the end of the week will look much better. Finally keep a look out for perhaps three unexpected introductions into the fleet early next week ????

Morning @igogeneral - firstly, may I congratulate you and the team for overcoming the horrendous events of the last week and for demonstrating huge resolve in scrambling resources to run services. Truly remarkable!

Secondly, which areas are you looking at and for how many/types of vehicles?

We need to store about 6 coaches at the moment on a fairly secure site but needs to be local to B610QB in order that drivers can easily access them during the day. The vehicles could stay our with the drivers during the day. Our new vehicles should arrive now on Monday and we hope for a full service out there by Wednesday at the latest. We have worked hard to achieve this but if not for people gathering around and supporting us in so many ways then nothing would have been possible. This is a truly wonderful industry to be part of

I've dropped you a message with a couple of places I know of @igogeneral.

One thing I do want to say though is how nice and friendly your drivers were today with passengers! They were lovely, down to earth and always up for a conversation. They also kept praising the management for the decision they've made during this crisis, and I could see they genuinely love working for Kevs. Hopefully you'll be back on your feet soon, and it's good to hear that you're expected to recover a full service so quickly after the incident! Everyone who has helped make this possible for Kevs really should be proud of how they've dealt with such a horrible situation. It's truly remarkable to see the industry supporting one another!

The surviving bus - Solo YJ62FYZ - seen on the 318 earlier this morning and if Bustimes is correct it was also on the service this afternoon. Can anyone say what has been working the 147 today.  I have seen a grey/red Mercs minibus out and about but not sure if this is covering the 147.     Following on from the previous post , I also have the utmost praise for the "customer service" Kevs drivers provide , to my mind , having regular drivers on a route is a big plus , I know it is not always possible but passengers appreciate it - well done.

147 operated by a loan Mercedes from WCC but sad to say not the most reliable vehicle as the doors keep failing. However our driver Mark is doing his best to keep the service going when it would be easier just to park up. That is why we are so proud of our staff, they have been remarkable.

Thanks so much for the revised Kev's fleet list. I was particularly pleased to see the inclusion of the two very rare Tata Hispano Intea coaches PO12 EOK and PO62 HNH - photo of PO62 HNH attached.
In May I saw a Bova Futura coach SF09 JWE operating one of Kev's school services in Redditch. I notice this vehicle hasn't been included in the revised fleet list and I wonder if it was just on loan temporarily from BASE. Has anyone else seen this vehicle?P1150245 (2).JPG

This vehicle was indeed on temporary hire from BASE, now been returned. Filled a gap but certainly not a good vehicle to operate

Might I ask why Bova Futura coach SF09 JWE was "not a good vehicle to operate"?

TfWM has awarded a new tender to KEVS for the operation of the 10, 10S, 38 and 42 services for a period of 5 years from 1 January 2023 which is good news for all users of these services which it was feared would be discontinued. 10S, 38 and 42 will be combined to form an hourly service from Longbridge to Quinton Tesco. New vehicles are on order specifically for this route and they are due either April or May next year

It'll be an issue with the BODS feed, it currently has a status of 'no vehicle activity'

No changes to running time on 55 but road works in Kings Norton has resulted in some late running. Changes to 10 timetable commencing Monday 27 February. Changes only due to excessive running time inherited from NatEx I suspect because of the roadworks disruption previously caused by Metro extension works.

It would be interesting to know why the question was asked ?

The map on Bus Times and Google seems to show the route going Woodlands Park Rd - Northfield Rd into Cotteridge rather than the line of route taken in the early weeks of operation. Haven't been able to check it out in person yet.

Like everyone else we hope that the forthcoming NatEx strike action will be resolved to everyone's satisfaction.

If not then Kev's will not be duplicating services or putting larger vehicles on to certain routes but we will be looking at ways of ensuring that our regular passengers are accommodated. At the moment we charge £1.20 if a passenger wishes to use another operators pass but we will suspend this option throughout the period of the strike

The cynic in you could be correct. However I suspect everyone who has a NatEx pass will get a full refund for strike days. The cynic in you thinks we need another 80p for what amounts to a small number of passengers. The bus man in me would like to refuse anyone who is not a regular on our services but I know that within two or three stops we will be full up and leave behind loyal passengers, will they still be loyal after it is over ?. The bus professional in me with 50 years experience in the bus industry hopes this strike will not go ahead and all involved will be happy with the outcome. Our industry cannot take many more blows. Unless you make a living from our once proud industry you will not know what I mean

Hello all, Just wondering if anyone could help me, Obviously due to the current situation with NX buses on strike. The only operator which is still running round my area is Kev's, I never used Kev's before and I can't seem to find the ticket prices anywhere online so just wondering if anyone could advise me on how much a day ticket with Kev's would cost as I would need to use a few buses per trip out?

Thanks in advance.

Kevs issue and accept nBus and nNetwork tickets. The former costs £4.20 and is valid all day within the West Midlands and certain additional areas provided your journey starts or finishes in the West Midlands (for example Rubery to Longbridge). NNETWORK is valid on the Metro and also national rail services within the West Midlands.  I'm not sure if they offer other season tickets.

Could you not retrofit them to Euro 6? Surely it would be a cheaper option and as you rightly said they helped the company to continue after the fire

Think they might already be euro 6 as they're ex London, like the ex London Green Bus deckers as well. CAZ checker says YX61GAO is.
Middle door I presume this would only be used if required be a wheelchair where the ramp has to be used, and as emergency access?

It's not a case of them needing to be 'retrofitted', as @igogeneral already stated the dual-door setup is just not suited to West Midlands operations. Besides, I believe its already been posted earlier in this thread that Kevs have some new buses already on order and awaiting delivery for their new TfWM contracts, so these will naturally become surplus to requirements.

Most stops in WM are fitted with Kassell kerbs for front entrance vehicles which makes it impossible to park the vehicle in an accessible manner for wheelchairs and some buggies. Also because of the front of the vehicle configuration it is impossible to even load some of the larger buggies through the front entrance. All this delays the service. The vehicles themselves are excellent mechanically and have already been converted to Euro 6 but we want to get back to where we were pre the fire with a modern fleet suited for operation in our area. That said we will be forever grateful to Dawson rentals who supplied us with these vehicles at such short notice.

The bus was parked with handbrake on when a kid in an A3 slapped into the rear at about 40mph. Car driver got out with a few scratches and a dented pride, his Dad had bought him the car only a few days before.

Bus company cuts Northfield route after yobs hurl rocks and smash windows
https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-news/bus-company-cuts-northfield-route-27545410

QuoteA bus company has cut a key route after yobs threw stones - risking the lives of passengers. Kev's Car and Coaches operated the No. 19 service along Overbury Road and Longfellow Road in Northfield but was forced to stop due to constant attacks.

Des Rogers, bus services manager, said as soon as the driver turned onto Longfellow Road or Overbury Road, youths would lob stones and even concrete at the windows. The company's single decker buses were targeted around half a dozen times, mostly between the hours or 3.30pm and 7pm.

No-one was hurt but it cost the company £4,000 to fix the damage. After consulting with West Midlands Police and Transport for the West Midlands, the firm decided to omit the two roads from their route, around six weeks ago.

My comment on that article has now been approved after 'awaiting review', probably because I used the term 'brain dead scumbags'.

Ordinary decent passengers who may rely on this bus route now have to suffer because of the actions of some mindless 'yoofs' who can only entertain themselves by throwing rocks at buses.

A similar question to the one from LiamsTransport1 (https://wmbusphotos.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=2033). Does anyone know if the two Tata Hispano Inteas PO12 EOK and PO62 HNH are still part of the fleet? I used to see them regularly on school runs in Redditch but haven't seen either of them this year.

Interestingly, Tata Hispano Intea PO62 HNH was operating school runs in Redditch this morning - good to see such a rare and unusual coach again.

The 88 is the only time I've experienced Kevs (yet), and the drivers seemed very nice and always in a good mood when I got on. It's sad Diamond run the 88 now but I'll definitely go on more Kevs routes when I'm out, which routes would you recommend, is there any interesting ones?

I'd recommend the 318, as it has a good run through the countryside between Stourbridge and Bromsgrove, same with the 147.

They are good runs but please remember than nBus tickets are not valid on these routes beyond the West Midlands boundary.

It will have to be changed in the ticket machine, can't be edited on BusTimes, perhaps @igogeneral can notify the person responsible?
