Quote from: Magikrabby on May 12, 2024, 06:42:17 PMIt would be almost all double deckers - the uni shuttle uses 7 vehicles! 5 of them are on uni all day. One does morning, then goes off to do Melton Foods contract and S1005 before returning late afternoon - this is usually a decker. The last one starts at about 1pm and does early afternoon, goes off to do Beauchamps college run and returns to do uni in the evening.902, 909, 910, 925 & 931 (+924 if not deputising a 912/913 on 22), would certainly help the uni shuttles. Although wouldn't expect it all day as like you say some go on different contracts. But it would certainly be a strong output for that uni contract.
I'm hoping that the increase in deckers will improve the student's perception of the service. The uni shuttle has a pretty bad reputation amongst students, to the point that many prefer to pay for Ubers to get to uni than catch the free bus. While most just like to complain for the sake of it, the one valid complaint I hear is that the buses are always full. In fact me and my friends would try and schedule to catch a double decker to increase our chances of actually getting on!
Quote from: Mayfield on May 12, 2024, 09:41:52 AM24 electrics in service now is that the full orderCorrect.
Quote from: 47609FireFly on May 11, 2024, 01:26:19 PMFrom my observations around Wenlock Way, 931 is having absolutely nothing done to it.Correct, drivers cannot always get everything right as they just assume. However like just stated in quote below, it was mentioned by a driver with knowledge and a high up personnel of staff.. "there's no rush to get it back up as won't be back out until after Summer for start of the uni services".
Be wary of bus driver gossip. They're not always the best at assimilating all the facts and presenting an accurate picture of events.
Quote from: Magikrabby on May 11, 2024, 11:12:04 PMIt was stated in a facebook group by a trusted employee back in March that it is off for repairs before MOT, and there was no rush because of the uni's easter break - this doesnt seem like gossip to me. Plans can and do change, but since it was seen in the workshop yesterday I'd say that's unlikely. Probably didn't move for a while whilst waiting for parts. It had a very noisy air leak from the front door for a couple of weeks prior to being taken off road which I expect is one of the things they are repairing. This is correct 👍
Quote from: Mayfield on May 10, 2024, 07:53:05 PMI see 931 is was tracking on the hop which isn't possible as it was in the workshop when I passed ay 10.30 this morning, wonder what's got 931 ticket machineYep, not possible as it's having work done on it to prepare for uni shuttles in Summer.
Quote from: LazyGuy222 on May 09, 2024, 01:30:27 PMFormer Leicester 32644 (KP54 AZG) has officially been preserved by the Midlands Bus Preservation Group, which is amazing news, so glad one of the KP54's have been saved.Coventry based so hopeful it will see some use in Leicester events especially from 2025!
Quote from: Magikrabby on May 05, 2024, 04:21:35 PMI saw 4 streetdeck electroliners at the depot today. 36616 was one of them, and has the plate BN24 ZWC. The others were too far away to identify. They are pre-facelift like the kites, but have green headlights - I wonder if this is to differentiate from Arriva's batch? Hopefully won't be too long until they are in service! The infrastructure is already there and drivers are trained for electrics so I can't imagine much delay. Was told by a driver who I know there's 5 there now.. 2 are ready for service.. and more due this week.
Here is a picture of it: https://flic.kr/p/2pPmsoL
Quote from: Glenfieldmathk1 on May 02, 2024, 09:33:36 AMFirst Streetdeck Electroliner, I've just seen it heading down A50 in Markfield. All green with dark green stripes.Update it's 36617. Interestingly (unlike the kites when they were delivered), it's fully branded inside and out.
Coincidently it was following a EMA Evolution!
Hopefully be out in service soon!
Quote from: Mayfield on April 28, 2024, 01:18:29 PMWonder if 63523 will ever see service againAt some point soon I'd say - for a brand new bus that only had a few days / weeks in service I cannot believe they'd keep it off road indefinitely
Quote from: EK40 on April 26, 2024, 06:23:43 PMall of firsts newest electroliners are all pre-facelift so its probably the sameAs they've been produced later than Arrivas batch and the earlier firsts batch it would be nice to see them in facelift version, but honestly they've probably specified the old front when the order went in!
Quote from: Pscar05 on April 26, 2024, 04:33:38 PMLooks like the electric double deckers are now arriving at abbey Lane according to the facebookThey haven't arrived yet!
