Which buses do you know that have spent their entire life at one garage? This can be for any company over any time frame.

2274 - GOG724W - MCW Metrobus Mk I spent its whole life at Wolverhampton (Cleveland Road then to Park Lane). 28 years service to one garage.
2887 & 2888 - C887FON & C888FON - MCW Metrobus Mk II spent their whole lives at Walsall. 24 years years service.
Autofare 3 - the ticket that laughs in the face of contactless!

I think the rebodied WMPTE fleetline 5531 (BON 531C) spent it's life at WH even though it was only a few years.

4125 was close to spending all it's life at WA, but it spent a month at BC. 4127 and 4128 were based at WA all their lives though.

Any views/comments are my own and do not reflect those of my employer.

4399 - 4424 probably are contendors, as they are perhaps unlikely to operate from anywhere else, nearly 19 years at Coventry.

4476 - 4496 have run from Perry Barr for 18 years now aswell and 4449 at BC.

A fair few of the 'F' and 'G' Metrobuses from 2990 - 3124 spent their whole lives at Wolverhampton garage which was up to 20 years for some of them.

I don't think 2274 spent 28 years there as all the MK1s were withdrawn by 2003 and 2278 was registered in 1980/1981. Probably more like 20 years too.

All but three of WH's BCT era Fleetlines 3318-3350 stayed put until withdrawal. 3323 in October 1980 may be the longest serving. Seventeen years is nothing these days.

During the WMPTE era when vehicles were often withdrawn at twelve years, lifers were more common of course.

I'm guessing a big reason for the shorter life of pre-1980 buses was the bus grant allowing new vehicles to be purchased cheaply. Whilst not positive for operators themselves, it was good that ending the grant allowed the later fleetlines and all the Metrobuses to stay in service for a lot longer. Tits crazy to think should the grant have continued, the 'Y' rev Metros that lasted until 2010 would have been withdrawn by 1994!

I think most of WHs Fleetlines in the range 664*-70 spent all their lives too. I don't think any hit 20 years, but some must be close. 18/19 maybe.

Only been there 13.5 years, compared to 4476 - 4496 at the same garage at 18 years.
There are loads of others, Gemini at AG/Tridents at WN (17 years), B7RLE at WA (15 years), etc that have only operated from one garage.

Looking back through my records, the longest serving Metrobuses at one depot were:
1) 2727 YW 25y 6m
2) 2744 WA 25y 5m
3) 2823 YW 24y 11m
4=) 2756 AG 24y 8m
4=) 2854 YW 24y 8m
6) 2525 WA 24y 7m
7=) 2812 & 2813 AG 24y 6m

That's because the Omnicities are 13/14 years old, no?
