Seems London have a new open top bus

Interesting that the sign warns of overhangine trees!

Ouch. What sort of speed was that bus doing for its complete roof to be sheered off by a branch?!

One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.

Probably about the same as 4234 was doing on the 7 last year

was Metroline, TE1745.
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

Nipped by Kingsway on way back from riding on 109 to find everything long since cleared up but TV crew still standing by tree!
West Midlands Bus photo forum proves useful even when you're 100 miles away from Midlands!

Reported on a forum i am on, that BBC London News quoted TfL as stating that they were investigating whether 'a design fault' allowed the roof to come away completely??

Cars are allowed to park along this bit of Kingsway at the weekend, in similar way to cars park along Earlsdon Avenue North in Coventry where 4218 came to grief when someone moved their car one day.
There is a warning sign in Kingsway, but the chap who was driving 4218 said it was a bit surreal when the upper deck windscreen floated down into the road in front of his bus!

Well the roof is hooked with pegs but I'm not sure if that's for all designs.

Here is a link to that:

By 18th July 2003 - 4218 had already left Coventry (that was the bus badly damaged by a firework back on 1st November 2001. It was repaired but never returned to Coventry) I have forgotten which CV vehicle was involved in the tree incident, 4403 or 4413 possibly?

*Quick update* - this is from a message I posted on Flickr some 6 years ago:
Dennis Trident 4204 completely lost its roof at The Hirons in Cheylesmore, Coventry. Later fully repaired.

Volvo B7TL 4421 Suffered extensive roof damage under a bridge while on a rail replacement service in Nuneaton. That was fully repaired.

Trident 4403 Lost a large chunk of its roof area on Earlsdon Ave North after striking a rather large tree branch. Repaired not long afterwards.

Trident 4218 suffered extensive upper-deck fire damage (after a firework going-off on a school run)
