My 11A home today was 4567 and it seemed to have a seemingly major mechanical problem. I boarded it at Acocks Green and when the bus was pulling away, I heard a massive thud. I assumed it was a passenger who wanted to get on but I couldn't see anyone. As the bus progressed, it became apparent the "thud" was coming from underneath the vehicle. Whilst I know very little on bus mechanics, it sounded like something snapped off and kept hitting something. Sound was most pronounced during a turn.

Many passengers, myself included, were quite unnerved throughout the journey. I hope the bus made a safe journey and is promptly inspected.

Did you mean 4657? I get a similar experience on 4399, like something was hitting against the engine - like you, I have no idea about mechanics

I remember having a similar experience on a metrobus when the 169 existed (heartlands hospital - solihull), anyway there was a bit of rattling coming from the rear end as we pulled away from the land rover lights on lode lane which was a usual thing on a metro but as we got to about lode heath school there was a massive bang and the whole vehicle shook violently when the engine was idling, I think the driver did an engine mount that day

Not noteworthy, spare MMCs run on the 73 regularly.

I think a fair few on here would agree Platinum spec MMC's on the 5/73 are worth noting (of course what people find noteworthy is subjective).

Busboy105

Yeah, you're right. But the 5 will probably get Platinums in the future when the Volvos get withdrawn.

Untrapped 4295 & 4301 have both had a reprieve from withdrawal, both have just received a fresh MoT, 4295 until October 2020, 4301 until December 2020

Are those two still allocated to AG or RRR @ AG ?

6130 is currently parked up at Ward End, Fox and Goose outside the Tesco store entrance, due to burning and smoke coming from the engine while on the 11C at around 16:20. The driver was alerted to the burning by a passenger.
Caught 6115 in Ward End earlier this afternoon at about 13:15 on the 11C and smelt burning when I got on similar to last time when I was on 6130.
Got off at Fox and Goose outside Aldi, and noticed like 6130, 6115 was burning and had smoke coming from the back of the bus, near the rear wheels (possibly coming from the engine). The driver carried on in service, seemingly unaware there was something wrong with the bus.
Never seen it happen on any other vehicle type, only these 61XX E400 MMC.
6115 probably needs inspecting @Tony, as the burning doesn't seem right.

Probably just water evaporating off the hot brakes

Would that cause the burning smell to fill the interior of the bus as well?
Certainly startled a few people on both occasions.

I've seen around 5 4/4As today, and they've all been Gemini operated, coincidence or has allocation changed with the lead up to Christmas?

Could well be. 6701 was on there also

4532 on the 11. What a seriously crap Gemini. Lacked any acceleration and really really struggled up any incline. About as slow as discount darts up hills (the NK54) one

Busboy105

Is the 73 commercial or tendered?
