Do E200s come off the 99 and go onto the 98/X64 in the evenings?

No they all run in.

It should be only high-capacity single deck vehicles of a night.

One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.

The quicker BC loose the 99 and the E200's to PE the better in my opinion, it does seem so silly to me that it's carrying on the way it is with so many other PE routes starting in Halesowen, it will help ensure that both the 222 and 99 see the right allocation more of the time and prevent unsuitable workings of E200's on busy routes, and are BC still parking them outside the garage at nights, or was that just when the new E400's were delivered?

The 99 itself almost always sees the right bus, very rare to see anything but an E200 on it these days. It's just that the 'spare' E200 (one of 808 or 809) can find themselves on some unsuitable workings.

Wouldn't there actually be a lot more dead mileage with PE running the 99? There isn't that much dead running at the moment with BC running it. On Mondays to Fridays at least, a couple of jouneys run dead to Halesowen and another runs dead to Quinton to start service, but the rest start from Birmingham city centre as far as I'm aware. In the evening, most run in service back into city, I think the last one of the day runs dead from Halesowen back to Birmingham.

If PE ran it you'd have 8 x journeys all with dead mileage between Pensnett and Halesowen at each end, not sure how far that is but it'll be quite a bit more than there is currently.

Also, isn't PE already at capacity?

Mike K,

Yes I understand that PE is already at capacity, buses were a one point having to be parked outside the depot at night, not sure if that still happens

No. The E200's are parked in the bus park now, not Adderley Street. Unlike the E400's taboot.

Today Coventry 4890 (branded 8/8A) was operating the 12.
It may have also been on the 7 yesterday.

4985?? this bus doesn't exist? Did you mean 4895 Nathan?
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).
