The Presidents seem to be finding buyers pretty quick

Certainly a contrast to the Volvo B6LE/B10L's and the Mercedes O405N's - quite literally no-one wanted any of those. Will be interesting to see if any of the early Tridents find buyers, when that time comes.

4043 now withdrawn.

Jim, I think that leaves 118 buses in service at XD (assuming 4700/1/6/10 have yet to enter service)

431-435; 731-734; 1774-1787; 2030-2058; 4025-4026/4028/4036/4042/4045/4074/4076/4112/4117-4124; 4680-4686; 4702-4705/4707-4709/4711-4717; 5422-5430; 7001-7018; 7067.

Crew Bus (1)
7427 (SP16 UZU)

Trainers (2)
1366/7151

Withdrawn (4)
4043/4111/4113/4116

(4700-1/6/10 in reserve waiting transfer here)

I suppose 7067 could go back to its old 1481 number and even 7001-18 could have used up 'spare' fleet numbers 4782-99 [granted 4799 is in use now]. Thinking ahead you could free-up most of the 7xxx series - for future/potential MMC deliveries! - by renumbering 7019-33, tagging them onto 1953, as 1954-68.

4700 isn't quite ready, so that won't be coming up for 3 weeks as I am on holiday from Tuesday.

4701 arrived safely, and 4716 is back at Walsall, I don't know what Dundee engineers have done to it, they deny doing anything, but it is ten times better than when I brought it up, holding 50mph even on the steepest hills including Beattock which even slows coaches down, probably now the best Gemini I have ever driven!

When I am back off holiday I will sort out bring 4700; 4706 & 4710 up, they will all be finished by then, and taking 4713; 4714 & 1787 back to Walsall for repaint.

@paulb1973 - Fyi from Dundee Bus Forum - 4701 is now in Dundee with 4716 coming back at the same time for refurb.

I make it 121 in service at Dundee, i.e. 111 & 112 (the 2 Volvo/Caetano Coaches) + 4701. Although I believe that figure is inflated, as not all of the refurb'd Gemini's are in service & I suspect there are further Presidents to be withdrawn as a result

Thank you for that, updating my own notes. I hadn't accounted for 111-2, but with 4701 in service it is 119 buses plus two Volvo coaches (I'm never quite sure if I should include coaches, I normally exclude No's 90-95 in my own NXWM/NXC totals !). Yes, as you say, I assume more Presidents will bite the dust soon.

Yes, 119 buses + 2 coaches. But I don't believe all withdrawals have been made for all Gemini's received

I suspect the same is true for AG and WB also!

On a related topic, are any of 7010-7018 being returned refurbished currently?

Returned? If you mean for refurb, that batch has been repainted by a sub contractor in Scotland.

I did indeed - Apple seems to think I meant a different word lol!! I knew they were being refurbed in Scotland but there seem to have not been any recently?

Not since 7010 a while back .As the geminis go into service a president should come off keeping the operational fleet the same .

@JIM C - I'm assuming that Dundee will still be left with a number of Presidents in service even once all 18 x Gemini's are in service/refurb'd

HI WINSTON , YES ABOUT 7 WILL STILL BE OPERATIONAL UNTIL NEWER BUSES ARRIVE EITHER CASCADES OR NEW VEHICLES. MIND YOU MOST OF THE PRESIDENTS ARE STILL GOOD BUSES. HOPE ALLS WELL .JIM.
