The 7xxx range was allocated to Dundee vehicles for a while. Not sure what happened there though. I still think 7019-7033 should be renumbered to 1954-1968, but hey maybe that's not a priority.

I think, but not sure that when it was 'Travel' buses swapped fleetnumbers when transferred, but once rebranded 'National Express' buses received a fleetnumber for life. The reason why short Excels had numbers in both the 4** and 72** series and why the ultimately unused 7115 wasn't renumbered back to 1466 on return to the West Midlands.

Those eighteen Gemini's in Dundee (7001-18) could have gained numbers 4782-99 to fill a gap there, but the re-numbering of 4816 took out the last number. The Wright Gemini Demonstrator BX14 TJV was 4798 briefly.

But the Gemini 3 demonstrator was with NX Birmingham, so surely they could reuse the number with NX Dundee?

No it can't, as NXD is on the same system as NXWM.

Once a fleetnumber has been allocated, it cannot be reused.

Once a fleet number has been allocated it cannot be reused? Come on Winston, that sounds like some bollocks Trident 4194 would say. What about 1908? What about 2001-2152?

It is correct on the current system, no reusing of numbers now.

First bus are the same, no 5 digit number has ever been re-used.

OK, I was thinking of Arriva (Re-using all the time!) and Stagecoach (If in doubt Google 15196 and 15222, sure there are plenty more)
