Quote from: Tony on December 17, 2023, 08:32:53 AMSo which bit of Metro are you blaming Andy Street for?

Everything currently being built was planned more than 6 years ago when he bacame Mayor
Andy Street signed of the Wednesbury Dudley link when it could have easily have been a busway, wasted millions on rapid bus transit, which is no nearer to being operational than the day they started it.

I have always thought public transport should be there to provide a service not to make money, especially in the climate we live in now, somehow we have to stop people obsession with the car.
I don't like Andy Street never have, he has killed Birmingham with his obsession with his bet project the metro.  instead of wasting all the money on closing roads like Corporation Street, it would have been better to have built a busway like in Luton, buses then could have entered & exited the busway using normal roads saving millions
My prediction for 2024 is he is massively beaten & the West Midlands area can move on better & stronger.

Quote from: Tony on December 09, 2023, 09:14:08 PMDon't know whether you've noticed, but franchising actually provides a better return for shareholders at the moment!
Wish we could bring WMPTE back Tony but I accept that is expecting to much

Labour win the metro mayor for the West Midlands & franchise the bus & trains, public transport should be there to provide a service not for shareholders.

If I could bring back any route it would be the 962 Birmingham to Chelmsley Wood via the Collector Road, never understood why it was withdrawn many people want a fast link to brum. All the others routes get delayed in traffic making the journey twice as long as it should be. If I remember the buses where always well used with many people waiting especially for the 962.

Quote from: jasmine on October 25, 2023, 01:03:16 AM934/5/6/7 is honestly quite confusing, but that's because I wasn't aware of the 9XX system from days past. but even now in 2023 that whole set of routes is confusing. nxwm were right when they said 2 digit numbers were easily rememberable.
What confusing about them should have been around when all the bus services where 3 digits my routes where the 500/01/10

If I could bring back any route back it would be the 54 Stafford-Penkridge-Wolverhampton changing the route a little so it goes into the Prison, there isn't a link anymore, I know for a fact people struggle to get to Rodbaston Collage & the prison especially when the trains are down

Garage threads / Re: Wolverhampton Garage

Really surprised they are withdrawing the 5, remember it in the 70s back then there where two services 14 & 15 the 14 went down NRE, court Rd, then up to clargate Island, then up Pendeford Avenue, Windermere Road, Birches Road to Birches Bridge, then Duck Lane where it terminated opposite the woodman. The 15 went the back way round whitmore Reans like the 5 does today. Stavelley Road then as the 5 does today until Birches Bridge
then direct along Wolverhampton Road to Moatbrook Avenue. When Pendeford estate was created in the late 70s the services where changed with the 14 renumbered 537 & the route amended to Serve Pendeford est and entering Bilbrook via Barnhurst Lane, Windermere Road was left with no services, The 15 was renumbered 535 but the route stayed the same, not sure when the Moatbrook Ave terminus was changed to Bakers Way but it must have been somewhere in the mid 80s. The 537 was withdrawn around 1986s leaving Bilbrook with very little bus routes until 2012 when services were changed in Wolverhampton.
Like others have said Banga have competed on the service before, at one time there was a bus ever 10 minutes between Wolverhampton & Codsall,

There is no money running buses anymore even NXWM are losing 10 million a year so if a company like that can't make any money what change do companies like Chaserider have. people like Bob do annoy me because like myself we are not bus people. Bus companies haven't got the money to buy new buses the environment we live in has changed, more people work from home, social travel has halved because there is nowhere to go, the internet hasn't helped. So what I say to people like Bob is instead of spending your whole day checking on buses that are not running & then posting about it, thing how hard it is today to run a bus company.

Can't understand why they don't transfer the omnilinks to Wolverhampton or Walsall where there is less demand & transfer the deckers to depots like Yardley Wood where ther is more demand

Read a lot of peoples answers on here, what surprises  me most is not getting behind your fellow workers, not a bus driver myself but my company was on strike last year I attended the picket line many times, supported the strike 100%, if u stick to together & fight like they did in Liverpool you will win this war with management.
