In the late eighties early nineties there was a  number of strikes by West Midland travel drivers. A lot of the services were covered by other operators on strike days. I  think this photo is taken on a strike day and would have been on 58 Coventry Road service.

It Was Redditch and Bromsgrove that were due to be in West Midlands but did not happen when Coventry joined

Think it was 2239 that was converted from Rolls Royce  Engine to Gardner Engine at Acocks Green around 1993.

Network Rail put a height restriction on bridge in Robin Hood Lane which was below double  deck height despite bus going under bridge for 50 plus years. Following discussion a new height restriction sign was put on. Diversion via Yardley  Wood station was when height restriction was on. Did say in South Birmingham review the 5 would go back to Robin Hood Lane

Ex Hanson Dart 60 was on Droitwich  local services today. Wonder if it is first working in Droitwich  for a Hansons  bus?

Sad news. The van hit the lamppost afterwards (it hit the bollards and the lampost in front of the black people carrier in the video). Terrible road for speeding, people think that its a dual carriageway further up, they can go 40 or even 50mph
Regrettably it was a Perry Barr driver going to work that got killed in this incident. R.I.P.

On Fridays the 2300 service to Worcester is extended to Ashchurch Cheltenham and Gloucester. Why is this as these stations are not served by London Midland at any other time.

saw another solo on x18 leaving Evesham to Stratford at four today. Unsure if it scheduled or not as all other buses on service were double deck.
