Arriva / Re: Arriva Leicester

Quote from: 47609FireFly on Today at 01:16:40 PMNice to see Leicester rid of the ex Yorkshire B9TLs to other parts of the Arriva 'empire'. Perplexed me how the company could never be bothered to get the rear destination equipment working properly on the majority of them.

It appears they've migrated to Luton,to replace older double deckers including I think the last Dennis Tridents.

Some more tender results from London, which were announced yesterday but now is about the earliest I've been able to sit down and see it for myself.

All six routes are retained by the current operators of them.

Route 41,plus the N41, were held by Arriva London and will be converted to electric buses meaning the majority of the Volvo buses at Tottenham will be looking for new homes in London. And yes I'm fully aware that DW buses are the regular type on it however Volvos appear daily.

Staying in North London, the 329-recently transferred to Wood Green-will gain hybrid buses replacing the near 13 year old Enviros.

Go Ahead London have retained the 444, however the current electric buses are to be replaced by new ones at Northumberland Park.

Staying with Go Ahead London, the 170-among the routes that pass Victoria Coach Station-is to retain its current Enviro midibuses. It will continue to run from Stockwell.

The current Enviros are also retained on two other routes,Abellio's H28 at Southall and the K5 which London United have retained at Tolworth.

The K5 starts in July, the rest gradually from December.

Also of note is that Metroline have ordered twenty three further Wright bodied electric buses to be numbered from WDE2906. These are for the 113 and N113.

Excellent news.

What about a MK1 Metrobus?

Some very significant garage news.

Arriva London is effectively making Edmonton a one route garage and will be basing its entire training fleet there. Route 158, which they operate today, will stay there.

The 259, their only other route,is to transfer to Tottenham and to enable that to happen, the 19 and N19 are moving to Stamford Hill. By my calculations that means over 70 buses will be allocated there.

The N279, which Edmonton runs today, will return to Enfield and until such time as the substation for the electric buses is ready will be run using their Nb4L buses.

These changes are to be effected by the end of July.

Go Ahead London were the big winners of today's latest contract news in London.

However I start with London United and their retention of the 65 and N65 at Fulwell. The current buses will continue on both routes, with the N65 continuing to be run with hybrids.

Arriva London is the big loser in South East London with their losing the 99,269 and 401 to Go Ahead London. All used to be run from Bexleyheath but as of yet it's not known who'll be running them. I have subsequently learned there are plans for a new garage in the area around Slade Green being rumoured which will service some BX routes.

There was a bit of good news for Arriva London however as they've held the 141 and W4. The latter will keep it's current buses however the 141 will get new electric buses.

The contract for the 65 and N65 begins in July, the rest in early January next year.

London United have retained route H22, which was among the first to operate Dennis Darts when they were launched in 1990. They've retained it for three years with the contract due to start on March 1st next year. A schoolbus route, the 697,was lost to Metroline from London United and will be run using hybrid buses.

Quote from: Jay71 on April 16, 2024, 02:20:14 PM8a/c. When was a double decker last used on this route?  Were they stopped being used because of low bridges?
Certainly not in the last 25 years,if indeed not longer.

London United have retained routes 33,71 and 371 this morning. The 33,plus the N33,will receive new electric buses and the contract starts in November. Routes 71 and 371 will retain their current buses, with the reminder that the 371 already has electric buses on it. Their contracts start in July.

Nowhere near accurate.

Don't get me started on this fake news. There is no climate crisis in the UK.

Routes 341,H37 and SL3 have been given new contracts today with their current operators. The 341 and SL3 will in time gain new electric buses while the H37 will keep their existing diesel Enviros. All contracts for these start later this year or early next year.
