Title: Showbus
Post by: TinnedPeaches on September 07, 2012, 06:32:38 PM
Does anyone know to any local bus or coach operators taking passengers to Showbus in Duxford this year? I have a rather significant birthday approaching this month and promised I'd treat myself, but as part of my treat I don't want to drive down there.

List of companies buses going

Thanks for the list to the link, Tom. I checked this out a few weeks ago when there were far fewer companies listed. I know that Dudley's Coaches are running an official trip, but no pick-ups anywhere near me. I also contacted central Buses to see if they were taking passengers, but they never got back to me.

There's often an AG bus and a WA bus at Sjowbus. 4533 & 4534 have both been I think.

Looking at the entry list on the Showbus website, the NX vehicles going this year are 5510, 5514 and 2077 from WN garage, along with 4894 from CV and of course 3225.

Vehicles from the past expected there include 1026, 1037, 1266, 1956, 2462, 2811, 2957, 2989 and 3053.

The full entry list can be found here: http://www.showbus.com/entry/entry2013.htm

The event will be held on Sunday 22nd September on Long Marston Airfield near Stratford-upon-Avon. Adult entry fee is £12, under 16s free.

And a wealth of BCT and WMPTE buses too for those of us who prefer our buses in blue and cream.

Hopefully I'll be able to go depending on work. Maybe I'll see some of you there.

No, the X20 from Birmingham - Stratford, then a free shuttle bus is running between Stratford and Long Marston Airfield every 30 minutes

Well the easy way is to take the train. £6 Network daytripper from your 1st bus, then get a £2 Stratford add-on from your local staffed rail station. So, £8 Pheasey - Letsripofftourists-on-Avon, can't argue with that now.

I'll hopefully be on the 09:00 X20 to Stratford tomorrow then the 10:15 or 10:45 from Stratford to the Airfield so if any of you spot me I'll be wearing a Blue Blues Shirt with League Cup Winners 2011 on it but if I'm wearing a coat (which I might not yet) it'll be my White Blues Diadora Jacket :)

The dart and the maltese bus along with the oxford hybrid were the best rides in my opinion. Routemasters are better in London, bristol/ecw's Im not a fan of, prefer fleetlines to ailsas but prefer metrobuses to either of them. The GM metrobus was good as well. Nice to see diamond there though as a late entry

The Coventry Enviro was there don't forget :P Problem then is if everything was new it becomes like Bus and Coach Expo, it's always nice to have some moderately aged buses too just to prove it doesn't have to be new to look good :P I was disappointed with the turnout tbh expected a fair few more vehicles, still there's always next year!

Maybe one of the new 13 plate E400's. Seem to be alot of other companys showing off their new purchases.

Nath, 4894 was there don't forget ;)

Its a shame they didn't give any mention to 20 years of the volvo Olympian given that their 25th anniversary of the Dennis Dart only meant a display of E200s, still R317WVR looked a treat, the MCW Metrobus turn out was pretty good (bit of a relief given id lost photos of them so i win:D ) being my first time ive got nothing to compare it to, i did have fun, so did the wasps I reckon

I'd have liked to have seen something non Wolverhampton (and non shed) what with the hybrid already being there! Perhaps a newly refurbished Bordesley Omnilink might have done nicely or 4733 with its unique bumpers :P Still I am happy to hear NXWM and Central Buses both won awards today.

Or how about one of the recently refurbed Presidents? For example I saw 4111 yesterday on the 11A in Acocks Green village, and it still looks immaculate (since it's refurb in May), you wouldn't believe at first glance that it was a 13 year old bus!

That'd do nicely Stu but I can't see a President ever being chosen for showbus :(

I would've brought a Spectra, preferably 4001 ;)

4001 is iconic yes, but lets be honest, it looks like crap at the minute

4633/34 would be my choice.

Very smart, and smooth.

Only I'd redo the interior to as-new prior to Showbus.

That would be because they're Euro 4 and therefore superior ;)

I know Matt ;) but with the ZF box they're definitely faster on pull off if I remember them both correctly.

However! You can NOT beat the original 43xx engines.. Cummins ISBe (or ISCe.. I must read more literature)? Flat six oil burner.

LS, 4125-4404 (3 speed Voith),4405-4634 (5 Speed ZF), 4565-84 (4 speed Voith) have ISCe engines (Except the Euro 4 engined examples). The ZF Euro 4 tridents like 4586 have an ISBe engine like the Trident E400's. Don't know how i know this much ino though ;)

Next year every other garage should send their best vehicles (example., Wolverhampton E400H, Pensnett E200., Central 46xx trident, Walsall 935 branded E400, Ag newly refurbished President etc)

That would be a bit too expensive, I think we did well to have 3 of today's vehicles going

That's the ones. I did know all the specifications of the engines but old memory age sets in. Quite worrying really.

Isn't Showbus going back to Duxford next year, or has that yet to be decided? If that's the case, NXWM may only send the one vehicle.

According to the Official Programme, yes it will definitely be back at Duxford next year (21/09/14) . But if the organisers thinks this year was a success, they hope to be back at Long Marston in 2015!  :)
