Title: Walsall Community Transport
Post by: NXWM Spectra on April 09, 2014, 10:11:22 PM
(Note to Admins: I couldn't see a thread for Walsall Community Transport, so I created this one. If there is already one, then please merge them.)

I've just seen R469 LGH on eBay at £2, 000 here:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dennis-Dart-/131158438023

This must be surplus to requirement now that Arriva have the tendered 65 service around Wednesfield, which is seen on the blinds on the listing.

Was going to say that. I presume this must be surplus since Arriva Wednesfield took on the revised 65 service      (Northwood Park-W'ton via Long Knowledge,Wednesfield,New Cross Hosp and Heath Town) from 26th January. However the W-UAG darts were starting to be used on the 65 instead of R469 LGH.

What's people's opinion of this operator?

Just been on their 25 from Pelsall back to Bloxwich & there was only me, a pensioner & from what was the Dolphin pub in Goscote, one of their driver's hitching a lift!

I would have to say very good. They took over the running of my local route 22 and since they took it over from Diamond they did wonders. Drivers are friendly very very rare for a breakdown or no service and they fares are cheap. what more do you want?

Does anyone know if W465 UAG / W474 UAG / R453 LGH / R469 LGH have been converted to DDA compliant or have they been withdrawn. If they have been withdrawn do Walsall Community Transport have any new vehicles to replace them. Also am i correct in thinking that all of their Optare Solo buses - YJ07 VRK / YJ56 WVH / YG02 FVW / YG02 FVX - are all DDA compliant. Thank you.

As they only run 2 services I'd say they have been withdrawn also the solos unless they are used on private hire/contracts  they use the white small buses in the 2 services they run 1 in walsall 26 & 30 in bilston

Have gained the 67 according to today's TfWM email - which shows it running from Delves rather than Yew Tree, but also says the route and timetable in unaltered. Not in traveline so can't tell which is true.

The Tri-axles do all the main tendered routes, so all those are in the livery, but the smaller Mercedes generally do 'other' work and are still white, but one regularly does do the route that comes up past Walsall garage.

Closest being Harden Road or Bloxwich Road!

Obviously no one wants a bus down there now!

One incarnation of the WMT/WMB 374 used to serve elements of the Harden and Forest Estates in the 90s (sometime around the bus strikes IIRC). I'm sure TWM/NXWM have tried variations too.

Not a particularly busy area for patronage.

Intriguing to notice, while new timetable posters have been put up at stops in my area, to reference the x51 change from Sunday, it appears one late afternoon journey on the Wct 25 has been rerouted to serve Bloxwich Road & guessing here, the full length of Harden Road.

Any reason why?

I'm taking a guess ASB related, but I'm surprised the diversion has come that far down, as I didn't think was an issue with Chantry Avenue?
