First Sheffield Volvo B10BLE Farewell Day

A farewell allocation for the remaining 20 B10BLEs will happen on Friday 30th October 2015.

I've not been told much by my friend - who is allocating for the event - however I'm informed that 60700/T882ODT will work Peak District run 272 all day to Castleton - this is the "best" BLE remaining and is expected to be a nice ride out. Be aware that this run is only covered by the £5.50 Peak Explorer ticket - details should be on the relevant website.

Another thing of note is that some of the "midnight" boards on former B10 operated routes will have a B10 allocated instead of a Streetlite. This rarely ever happens, believe it only still ever happens on 44s when there is a lack of available Streetlites. Not that I complain, can't beat a BLE on the local route all night ;)

I can't disclose much more but there will be NO B10BLEs allocated on Saturday 31st October 2015 - the last day for these will be Friday 30th September 2015. End of an era for Sheffield. Will be a shame to see my childhood buses say goodbye to service for the last ever time.

Here's what I believe each depots fleets to be, there's probably still some transfers to Bradford sat inside Olive Grove depot and some withdrawn B10BLEs somewhere in Rotherham. Of note, the withdrawn buses are all based at Olive Grove, the B6BLEs are classed as reserve vehicles, the B10BLEs remaining at Olive Grove & Rotherham are on "stays of execution" so can depart the fleet at any point with any minor defect. There is absolutely no money or time being spent on them now - they're simply covering for vehicles, similar to 37500-508/525 at Olive Grove which may see public work at any time whilst the final few transfers are being awaited.

Quick update as the fleet starts to settle down...

All Tridents are now in Doncaster, 1 is at Rotherham for RTC repairs with another 9 VOR, they're getting better but still not as good as we managed to get to them in Sheffield. There's talk about them coming back for B7Ls currently.
Streetdecks are settling in on the X78 nicely...yet the DBP looks to be throwing that up in the air.
The 14 B7TL Geminis at Rotherham and then the one broken one at Sheffield aren't sure whether to be staying or going but have got a home on the 22/22M competing with Stagecoach.
The five Courtesy Fleet B10BLEs (60618/21/22/6/66112) minus 62143 which has been written off are retuning to SY for DDA mods and then service, 60626 is currently being modded as we speak.
60689/96/7/700/2 are the last remaining B10BLEs and are still in service until the rest of the movements are carried out.

Back onto topic of First South Yorkshire, has any of our Yorkshire members had a ride on the Evoseti and what are their opinions of the bus?

Finally got on this today (thought it would have gone elsewhere by now but obviously not) and I've got to admit I'm not too impressed. Interior looks very plasticky and very tacky and you can see where someones had the filler out on the engine bay at the back of the bus. Rear wheel arch seats look like they've been copied from the President but it rides rather smoothly and doesn't take too long to pick up speed even on Sheffield's god awful roads! Very quiet too, sounds similar to the euro 5 B7RLEs tbh, but the gearbox has a nice bit of scream in it :-)

All expected transfers now almost complete. OG's last remaining B10BLEs 60689 60696 60697 60700 60702 will see service right up until the end of service on New Years Eve.

37031 moving to Rotherham shortly for fire damage repairs
30862 now in reserve. again.

Streetdeck update, 35124 is being repaired using 35125 after a crash, 35125 is long term VOR after a major smash. Two weeks in and they've already started smashing them up ;)

60689 has been withdrawn from Olive Grove due to water ingress
60696 has been out on 41 circuits today
60697 has been out on 8s today until approx. 14:30 when changed over. May possibly not see service again.
60700 has been out on 8s today until returning to depot at approx 00:30
60702 has been withdrawn from Olive Grove due to a water pump failure.

60696 60700 and possibly 60697 will see service up until end of service on Thursday.

Not familiar with the area but I think the following are unusual/noteworthy:
35131 was on the 39/66 in Rotherham today

69588 is another ex-Maltese B7RLE on hire whilst 35137s delivery is still outstanding, this was damaged on delivery and so returned to Ireland for repairs. Would have been on 7/8/14, possibly one of the least amounts of interworking in the place ;)

32220 on 22s is normal, any route gets any decker now.
At a guess 35136 would have been on the usual ex-exam board on 10/27 which at least used to run onto an X78 in the evening although I don't think it does anymore.
The 39 and 66 don't interwork so at a guess I assume it must have been changed off at some point.

Whilst I'm here, B10BLE 60626 (789) has been at Olive Grove depot for the past couple of weeks and has made itself at home on the 8/8a (Ecclesfield - City - Birley - Crystal Peaks)
