Depot visits

Tony

I have received this email from Rotala, basically it says if you want to visit their depots please contact them first and preferably ask for a weekday.

I note on a recent posting on WM Bus you say we do not allow enthusiasts onto
our sites

This is not our intention

Most enthusiasts call on Weekends.  We do not allow people just to call and look
around at their leisure due to the ever increasing H & S requirements. Visits
need to sign in and sign our disclaimer which they cannot do on weekends

We are prepared providing we have staff available, and it is better for this to
be weekdays and preferably booked to allow people escorted.

As Rotala clearly read the forum, why don't they join in & post directly?

We have Steve Minor's input/perspective from the smaller operator's point of view & Tony + others from NX's, any input from a medium sized operator's point of view would be invaluable, particularly if our assumptions / opinions of Diamonds business are way off the mark

I am amazed they found time to send an e mail from something they spyed on a forum, as I complained to them 4 months ago and am still eagaly awaiting a response!!!!!!!!!!!!

Judging by some of the comments of the Diamond FB page, I don't think you're alone

To be fair, fair play for rotala to get in touch and clarify the situation and I completely understand their position about depot visits

Same here, i reported a driver for giving out used tickets when passengers paid fares, and got no response back from them.

If you wanted to actually photo buses at the depot though when would you stand the best chance of getting the highest number?

Depots are not good places to get photos. Go on a weekday and most buses are out. Go when most buses are in and they are parked so you cannot get photographs! The only time I get garage photographs is normally when a bus has just arrived or if I want a special line up. The light is very rarely very good inside and outside you have to be lucky if they park the right way around for the sun.

Probably better just turning up by the garage gates between 6pm & 8pm and photograph most of them arriving back from duties

Cheers Tony-see the difficulty. To be fair, I quite like line ups of vehicles so a sunday or evening would be best but they say that you cannot sign their disclaimer then whatever that is. I guess maybe you could sign a disclaimer and ask to be shown round on another day??
