Worst liveey is Travel Express in Wolverhampton as they don'tactully have a livery ;)

Haha one of the worst liveries though is the Northumbia/North Western type livery-absolutely horrible design with horrid colours.
Im surprised no one has said that the worst livery was probably anything NBC!!

The North Western one was truly horrific and can be seen in all its glory on the opening sequence to original 'Brookside' episodes if you Youtube it! I was a fan of the Northumbria scheme though?

I think MRN got off lightly there as they were in the same stable as those two but but fared slightly better with livery:

My favourite Drawlane livery of the era was on the ex MRN Nationals that went to Shamrock and Rambler although unfortunately it was very shortlived:

I know everyone thinks I am biased so I will throw this reminder in of how MRN could get things badly wrong, although you have to wonder if the current NX livery designers may have worked in this area before!

This last one is very interesting Andy as Ive got the midland red north book and some of the liveries offered by an agency including this one are absolutely hideous-even worse than this one!!

I have the book too, you're right there were some stinkers, something about that era I think....there was an opportunity to splash some cash and erase NBC blandness up and down the country and a new mini industry started up, with a few players that should never have got business!

Brilliant book to find out about MRN which I knew next to nothing about and british bus/drawlane which seem fascinating. The Bee Line livery they adopted was poor as well-I dislike the crosville light green as well and the orange crosville one was horrid

They never really knew what to do with Crosville hence bolting it on to MRN and rebranding it, totally unsuccessfully, every 5 minutes! All the liveries used in that area were shocking and even upon standardisation I don't think there was ever a time where the Crewe and Macclesfield fleet were all in the same liveries it was a real patchwork quilt. And just when they started to sort it out they shoved it all over to Stevensons.

It's a great book for anyone on here to read if they can pick a copy up cheaply enough I would recommend it. Have driven at least half the buses photographed in there.

Any of the scutty minibus companies in WM that don't bother to paint their buses, they don't necessarily look bad in their own right just look lazy

I totally agree that Yorkshire Coastrider and Harrogate & District Route 36 liveries are superb.  Incidentally, if anybody is in the Yorkshire area, the 36 is well worth a ride.  It runs every 15 minutes between Leeds, Harrogate and Ripon and uses fully refurbished B7TL's with extra wide 2+1 leather seating upstairs.  A unlimited travel day ticket costs £8.

Other favourites are Brighton & Hove red and cream (especially the Coaster buses), Southern Vectis two-tone green, Wessex grey and red and the Stagecoach Cambridge park and ride liveries.

My dislikes are white based liveries, and I include NXWM and the original Stagecoach livery amongst them.  However, the ultimate bad livery must be Barbie 2 as it was an awful livery applied mostly to awful buses.

Finally I must disagree (tongue in cheek) with Nathan.  Travel Express do have a base livery - it's rust!

One I'd completely forgotten about until I randomly started browsing their pictures on the main site....
North Birmingham Busways! Always looked smart, hell they even made Darts look smart. I miss them...

Yeah. Series 1 Episode 1 of Waterloo Road had a bus with this TWM lookalike livery on
