Have Pensnett still got plenty of spares, as a number of buses are either out of action or at paint

1588 accident damaged off site (now withdrawn?)
1627 @ Walsall having body refurb/retrim & repaint
1629 gearbox dead
4806 @ Walsall having retrim & repaint
4827 out of use awaiting parts

richie

1620 is also away due to accident damage

winston

I noticed today a ZF Powertrain van behind a Merc on one of the engineering bays, I'm assuming 1629 is currently receiving a new gearbox

richie

Yea it was 1629 don't know the extent of the work though

jade4444

1588 didn't withdrawn and they put park and awaiting for repair and probably from 1583 bumper.

winston

As 1588 had a high impact frontal collision, I would think it is likely to need more than just a new bumper, hence Richie's comments that it is unlikely to be repaired / return to service

jade4444

Yes, well 1604 has new bumper from 1567. This will get new bumper from 1583 or 1531 but NOT 1559
because has already remove bumper sold to.
1567 is worst repair become withdrawn.

richie

1588 chasis was bent so definatly more than a bumper a car hit it at 60 plus MPH. 1620 front damage looked light but was told the damage was more because of the steering column both at perry barr

There are agency drivers at a few garages might be them

Pensnett seem to be having a few over the last 12 months!

im kind of suprised they are refurbing the hagley road enviros as well as 1627, be nice if 1629 1620 and 1588 come back into service, but might be unnlikely

There are definitely older deckers which are more worthy of a retrim/repaint in both TWM & early NX livery, but it may be down to budgets etc and the fact that the Enviros are the only deckers Pensnett have. 1629 was already being worked on late last week so should be back on the road pretty soon, 1620 sounds as though it should also return, 1588 sounds unlikely with a bent chassis. I was surprised at 1627 being refurb'd as it doesn't have a ramp like 1628 onwards, can 1645 be next on the list, as its feeling a little left out having never had a repaint since new.

There are plenty of Bordesley Mercs still to be reallocated withdrawn once all the Omnilinks move across, so one/two of those could always transfer in to Pensnett should 1588 & 1620  be beyond economical repair
