I've since been made aware but sadly, I'm unable to make it. I believe I saw on the forum about an open day but I wasn't aware of where it was and when. Oh well, CV is one of the few garages I haven't had a look around as well.

4651 & 4679 has just passed in tandem, down the A45 (near the Airport) towards Coventry ;)

Is something happening at CV today ?

My 11A home today was 4567 and it seemed to have a seemingly major mechanical problem. I boarded it at Acocks Green and when the bus was pulling away, I heard a massive thud. I assumed it was a passenger who wanted to get on but I couldn't see anyone. As the bus progressed, it became apparent the "thud" was coming from underneath the vehicle. Whilst I know very little on bus mechanics, it sounded like something snapped off and kept hitting something. Sound was most pronounced during a turn.

Many passengers, myself included, were quite unnerved throughout the journey. I hope the bus made a safe journey and is promptly inspected.

On that 2013 visit (probably no more than a dozen of us) one lady insisted on finding out why 'her' bus always came late and making a big deal of it. It became a bit embarrassing really and I felt a little sorry for the staff, who were simply showing us around. Fingers crossed you don't get a 'moaner' on one of these small-group visits - if the open day operates in that style.

oh dear ! I suppose it's a case of being on top of any application process as I would imagine only a certain amount places are usually allocated.

I applied online/by email I think (I can't quite remember to be honest!) for the September 2013 open day and visited on the Sunday. We were initially told that taking pictures was a no-no, but in the end our tour host/staff didn't seem to mind - so we took pictures of the inside of the garage!

I once went to PN on a Sunday and just photographed outside the gates, I managed to get some courage and asked if I could get a guided tour and I did ! I took quite a few photos and I'm quite thankful for it.

Is this specific to a date or can I just randomly apply to get a tour ? I quite like seeing photos of buses inside the garage and Sundays provide ample opportunity to do so. I can't seem to find any details regarding applying although I do remember sending an email regarding a tour/ look around and I didn't get a reply. I'll be sure to look into this.

Is anyone able to confirm whether the Open Day is going ahead ? if it does indeed have prerequisites, what are those ?

The 84 was withdrawn and replaced by the WB 48 last year @GeminiFan1991 .

Oh dear,

I need to start spending more time on this forum. Duly noted,

Ok, can anyone give me a full list of the routes operated by YW. I know routes 2, 3, 6, 18, 27, 35, 49, 50, and 76 are among them, but are there any others?

Off the top of my head, you've missed out the 84

Even the unrefurbished Scanias at BY are some of the smartest and well maintained buses in the whole NX fleet. The 94 is now regularly operated by 09 plate E400s. I'd be the first to wish that my local routes had brand new buses on a regular basis, but what we do have is perfectly acceptable. If anything it's the 97 that has had the bum deal, operated almost exclusively by 16 year old vehicles. But even they are not that bad.

I also second this. I dont see BY Scanias often, but I live off the 97 and while the buses are old as you say, I'd probably go as far as saying, those buses are the quickest in terms of just shifting their mass. I've seen them belting down the Bordesley Green Road.

17 can't use double deckers, due to a low bridge in Tile Cross.

55 can use double deckers, the 55 used double deckers years back when it was at Lea Hall. The old 56 used to have deckers as well up until 2017.
Its been said BY Garage can't operate double deckers. It could be done by sending the 55 to PB and the 28 to BY. The 28's Heartlands terminus isn't that far from BY Garage.

I believe that BY indeed can take deckers. I do remember seeing an OmiCity there once (Admittedly parked outside). I also remember seeing buses going into the garage and their seemed to be enough head space for a decker.

Not entirely sure how I missed the ad but I assumed it was branded because as mentioned above, it does have the orange front and when I sat upstairs, I noticed the "Along the Pershore Road" stickers along with the usuals.

Pershore Road branded 4911 is on the 61

97 branded 4460 is on the 45
