Main Site PCV Photography Comments / WMT 4128

I noticed a repaint on vehicle 4128 reverting back to the Red and blue West Midlands Travel and was curious as to why? Is it going to heritage?

National Express Coventry / Fleet cleaning.
December 31, 2016, 08:47:30 PM
I noticed yesterday that quite a few of Coventry's buses are externally dirty.
844,4454,6017 etc

Is there just a general lack of cleaning or is this purely down to the winter weather? I know a lot of the fleet is stored outside an I wondered if this had anything to do with it.

Anybody else noticed this? Its really a shame given how smart they can otherwise look.

EDIT: Improved formatting.

More new buses is a good thing, but the lack of wifi is seriously putting NXWM behind in my opinion. Most of the routes are urban based so its not exactly difficult.

Can anybody answer the question of why new NXWM vehicles still dont have wifi?

Is it the additional cost?
Or is it for some other reason. Really its about time for it, its the only thing missing.

....Btw, I'm envisioning that in the future you'll be able to press the stop bell button from your smartphone.

PCV & Locomotive Discussion / Hodgepodge

I didn't want to make multiple threads so I thought I'd just make one thread and cover everything.

1) I was back in Midlands a couple of weeks ago. Looked like half of Pool Meadow bus station was being dug up. (Why?)
I did look to see if this was explained anywhere.

2) I had two different drivers want to take a look at my ticket on different days. Is this a bid to tackle misuse of daysavers/n tickets/fare evasion in general? (I had a one day N bus on one ocassion and a plain old daysaver on the other.

3) Back in Preston meanwhile...

I spotted a Leyland Lynx a few weeks ago, I thought I'd share.

The Archive / West Midlands buses vs
October 06, 2014, 01:59:24 AM
I was just thinking of how well operators such as National Express West Midlands/Coventry and transport authorities such as Centro compare to their counterparts in other areas, since I have recently moved to Preston (Lancashire).

I thought it would be an interesting topic to compare operators/PTE's, inside and outside of the West Midlands. Obviously all in good spirit.

In terms of transport authority, I've come to realise how excellent Centro is compared to other places.
Here in Preston, both the borough council and Lancashire county council need to get into the 21st Century. SOME local bus stops here have a digital display by an organisation known as 'Civitas', but the likelihood of it working is probably 1%
Even the bus station has a lack of electronic screens.

Having said that, the buses seem to operate to a reasonable standard, but even the newer hybrid Wright Eclipse double deckers operated by Preston Bus seem to be in worse condition internally compared to a lot of NXWM Tridents which are older.

Although pricing is reasonable on Preston bus. £1.75 for a single ticket.

See my sig for my opinion of Stagecoach. Say what you like about the company, but the pricing makes no sense at all.

The Archive / Moving up North!
August 19, 2014, 12:14:48 AM
Hello,
I am moving to Preston in September and wondered if anybody knew if there was a local forum dedicated to discussion of buses?

I will be back in Coventry outside of university times and will still be contributing on here, its been great being a member.
I think it has become apparent that I have an obsessive love for NXWM 900 and some strange sleeping habbits :D

Thanks to all on here for interesting discussions so far!

Regards,
Ben.

The Archive / Buses advertising, buses.
March 22, 2014, 02:58:14 PM
I was looking through the photo gallery and came across NXWM 4465 branded for the  24 hour, 97/A service to Birmingham Airport.
On 4465 instead of a usual advert, an advert for the new service.

Besides this example, and all over branding (I'm presuming the advert I'm referring to would probably have been applied to sister vehicles in the fleet), are there any other examples of Buses literally advertising bus services?

I just thought this might be an interesting thread, apologies if anything similar has been asked before

BTW, the photo I'm referring to is here: http://wmbusphotos.com/NXWM/4225-4474/4465.html

National Express West Midlands / Grey Stripes?
December 16, 2013, 12:09:10 AM
It just occured to me that the grey stripes have been omitted on quite few vehicles. Is there any reason for this? (sorry if this topic was already covered)

Travel DeCourcey / Strange electronic display
November 20, 2013, 06:49:53 PM
This evening I was passing through Pool Meadow (about 4PM) and I noticed a De Courcey MCV Evolution parked up showing strange information on the destination sign. I couldn't see a fleet number and  I wish I could have remembered the numbers properly.

It was something like:

"SF=106, SW=94"

Any ideas why there'd be strange digits on the display?
I wonder if the driver was aware.

National Express Coventry / 7 and 19 interworking?
October 06, 2013, 12:58:59 AM
I don't remember the bus numbers. But the driver was the same. I noticed this last week twice.
The 7 in question is timetabled to get to Pool meadow for 7:47 and the 19 timetabled to leave at 7:52 so it's possible.
I have time on Monday morning to test the hypothesis if needs be.

I just can't tell how (if at all) the 27 to Toll Bar End fits into the equation?

Should this be the case, I'd quite like (would never happen) NX to skip Pool meadow and just have just this particular working terminate/start in the Burges (saves time and fuel) which is also possible given the stop locations.
