From Bromford Bridge to Saltley, it is as you see it there on that map.

From Saltley, it either went as the 14 goes now (well the closest given all the road changes around Millennium Point and Curzon Street), or via Nechells Parkway, Great Lister Street and through Aston University like the 92, 93, 94 used to before they closed that off.

At one point, it was merged with the 93 and extended from Bromford Bridge up Chipperfield Road, and then as the 93 route to Kingshurst. This was all eventually consumed into the extended 72 route from Solihull to Birmingham, which was then merged with a bit of the 966 to become today's X12.

Before the Spine Road Island was built the 26 went along past the Sportsman Pub and then turned up Melvina Road then turning right at Duddeston Station to Curzon Street Island then went up to Ashted Circus turned onto Jennens Road then up to Masshouse Circus before the latter was demolished, until it took the alternative route which the 14 now takes into town via Greggs etc
