4764 has never been branded for the 997 Nathan. 4770-76 were the ones originally 997 branded.

4764 was on the 51 yesterday

Just a quick a question for anyone really;

are the following driver trainers used;

9???
9057
9697
9951
9955
9959

As far as I'm aware the only 2 Metro's that still see occasional use are 9951 and 9959, 9955 hasn't been used for years, but is still at Miller Street and had a little move a while back.

No idea on the Transits, but would imagine there still about, as far as trainers are concerned 9023 is the one I see most often knocking about, maybe up to 2-3 times a week

9951 was out yesterday, have not seen a Metrobus in use for a while before then. Also saw 1345 training in Acocks Green today

Is it ever going to be likely that a double decker appears on the 4/4H/4M or for example if there were only double deckers left in the garage that could be used and a bus was needed for the 4 would it be the case that an omnilink goes off the 301 for example onto the 4 and a double decker goes onto the 301.

Kevin

Currently on 1904 on the X56. Not a massive amount of people on board but doesn't seem any worse than when I used to see the Arriva minibus pull up in Birmingham. Not going to lie I felt a bit stupid deliberately letting an X51 go past just to catch this but hell I'll still be at work on time so all is good. Does mean that there will be an Omnilink on the 997E extra journey, which does strike me as a tad worrying because I know what the Great Barr school buses can be like.

Very tempted to wake up early one morning and get up to Brownhills just to catch it

Nathan, 4764 was on the 934/5/6s today, if you have not found it yet (I know it more than likely too late now to tell you)

Very tempted to wake up early one morning and get up to Brownhills just to catch it

....so this morning I woke up (unintentionally) at 5 o'clock, and had far too much on my mind, so decided "screw it, I'm going to Brownhills".

Caught 1750 (which excited me in itself, love the Eclipses but was expecting an Omnilink), and thanks to a faulty Wayfarer it was late. There was already a handful of people on it, and by the time we got to Shire Oak and hit the stretch of countryside there was possibly a dozen of us on board. Someone got on asking if it went to Northgate, driver wrongly said yes and issued a ticket, woman quite rightly got a bit annoyed with the driver when one of the other passengers told her otherwise.

Only 5 people got on in Streetly, and one of them was talking to the woman behind me about the new route, with the phrase "that's a shame" mentioned, despite assurances it doesn't actually take longer.

The route through Pheasey (up to the church and down to Beacon Road) did seem stupid at the time, considering the number of other routes that go from that part of the world into the city, but stopping on the other side of the road, and trying to pull out onto Beacon Road involved waiting for a 997, because no cars would let us out. But then I saw the traffic on the Queslett Road in the direction we had come from and changed my mind. Some people got on further along the Queslett Road, which surprised me a bit.

So yeah, all in all, it turns up into town with a few more people than Arriva's effort, but still worryingly empty for a peak hour service.

And I really should just stay in bed next time
