In that case I can't see the problem, they should just be happy they have a bus with pleanty of capacity that gets them to their destination.
There are loads of passsengers across the West Midlands on many routes who won't have platinum vehicles anymore.

The 4 previous 404 has been successful with single decker since June 1997 with leyland Lynxs followed by mercs in 1998 them scanias since 2009. With a high frequency of every 7 minutes single decks arnt really an issue.
