3016x 63 plate streetlite operating 3/X3 in Kidderminster today.

Perhaps Kidderminster might see some of these transferred across - in about 10 years!

What's normally on the 3/X3, is it MPDs?

The 3/X3 is usually anything operating from Kidderminster, there's no real set pattern.
The two YJ06 solos at Kidderminster are usually used on the 3.
More recently, MPDs have become common on the 3/X3, as that's what Kidderminster has a lot of.

I think I've probably seen all of Kidderminster's allocation operating the 3/X3 over the past month.

On Sundays, the routes are operated from Redditch depot, which usually produces Enviro 300s.
if they  are 30638/39  they are 33 or 37 seaters      round about the same as a dart

Cheers! I would imagine it's quite busy between Kidderminster, Stourport and Areley Kings with both Diamond and Whittle operating the corridor

Yes it is. I would say having been over there several times Diamond are slightly busier but whittles do ok on there to say it is a fairly new route

Has it? I was under the impression whittles only started on there from 15th October 2012 so for them it is a fairly new route.

Ah, yes I thought that's what you meant.

In fact, Whittle have operated the 3 for many years before (I don't know how long) with the route being reduced to off-peak in April 2010 and then withdrawn in September 2011. It was then re-introduced in October 2012, presumably an attempt by cash-strapped Whittle to make a profit.

Whittle also operated the 16, which used to run from Kidderminster Rail Station to Areley Kings until about 2007 I think, but that's as much as I know.

Whittle as a company are much better known in the Wyre Forest than Diamond, dating back to 1929 in Highley. Many people hated First so Diamond has done well to rebuild a good reputation for the operation, but it is still a new operator for many local bus users.

Whittles did run on  it for a while before that  date , they restarted on it  then think  they started on it when the finished the 16,

I have a Whittle brochure which states that the 3 service was reintroduced on 15th October 2012, at the same time as the introduction of the 2C and the withdrawal of the 11

Oh right, that wasn't where I got mine from. Mine was from the 192 bus but if it were in Stourbridge bus station it would be more helpful. Hopefully will check tomorrow.

Yeah, it was in the racks of leaflets between the 142 stand and the lift.

I have never been on a Whittle bus myself, but hope to change that next Saturday...
