all my life I have lived in an area served by both arriva buses and trains and generally support them, but every year arriva run no services on boxing day and as they come into the west midlands more and more is it fare that they should take over services and not run them on Christmas day?

Ok the green bus are going to be running services in wm county but should the passenger have to cope with a different bus provider who wont accept arriva passes? or even worse be faced with no service at all!

X529 a is a great idea I personally think, running it limited stop from Walsall to j10, then along black country express way to Portabello island then limited stop into Wolverhampton! if I was to start a bus company this would be my first route I would start on!

Other Operators / Megabus
August 25, 2013, 09:10:55 PM
So I noticed that there isn't a tread dedicated to megabus!

So here is some news then.......

Stagecoach have been recruiting a lot of drivers lately at Rugby and will continue for a while. They are to start shortly some new Europian rooutes into Germany and now to the south of france.

Also (only rumour this though) Megabus will have its own station at Heathrow airport at the new terminal 2 building and there services will serve t2 only. this is due to start when t2 opens and one service will be in competition with national Express's 210 service. but with fares from £1 and nx starting at £15 its gonna be war me thinks!

The first of 3 of the coventry scanias are leaving the garage today as 4 new buses have come in. I have been told by the guy sorting them out that they are destined for wolverhampton !!!!
He said some or possible all of them may go to walsall thoughThey cant be used on the 38 due to thw low bridge by bradford place

What route do people think they will be used on in wolves that is if they are going there?

I was travelling over to Wolverhampton today, saw travel express and this question popped into my head. what area in the centro area has the worst quality buses? for me Wolverhampton ticked that box. why....nx are operating the oldest double deckers in there west midlands fleet here and it seems it is a dump for older buses past there prime (O405N, B6, Spectras). Then you have Arriva Wednesfield, diamond who only seem to provide darts in wolves and finally banga and travel express.

poll is easy to answer but comments comments would be great to tell us why you think its the worst area and maybe tell us what you think the area with the best quality buses is

For me best quality buses would be Walsall and in second place Solihull

Arriva / driver uniforms at wednesfield
April 23, 2013, 05:27:44 PM
Ok I have been very positive about arriva's takeover of midland and praise them about there operations. So here is a critisim. I really think that drivers at wednesfield should of now been given arriva uniforms, I can understand buses not being done up straight away if they are going to he replaced but driver appearence should be a must. Saw a driver on the 9 just in a casual shirt and jeans and arriva should sort it out as it could damage there image. What are others views

There is always a lot of negative stuff on here about Diamond and also Arriva but I want to focus on Diamond.

I am a massive fan for improving the service and the image the customer receives and I think the biggest step recently is that many operators are choosing leather seats for there fleet.

So here is Diamond (not fully there im sure some of you can add)

Diamond introduced Signature brand, which increased bus ridership (FANTASIC BUT......like with the Premier 997)

Diamond have introduced high spec buses that feature wood effect (only other operator is travel de courcey)

Diamond have also bought BRITISH BUILT Buses for west midlands (excluding 1 MCV 3 ciatro) and to be even more picky there not Scottish or N Irish!

OK optare aren't the best but I love them and really rate them, ive had them since 2007!

Diamond operate 26 leather seat buses compared to national express 17 and De courcey with 3.
Compare that on fleet size proportion......
Dimaond operate a few hundred buses to nx over 1000 so have a higher portion of better standard of buses.
Diamond have also introduced 4 citaros to its fleet which is Europes best selling bus and the build quality is outstanding but highly priced
Then on to environment issues take in the whole diamond fleet and they operate more hybrid buses (percentage) compared to national express.

Plus they have already made what I believe major improvements to services in Kidderminster with newish buses and offer great value for money tickets on there Redditch network.

ok Diamond aren't perfect but no company is, I think they do deserve a little bit of credit and lets open our arms to the new delivery of buses and lets use them tooo!! And hope that it will improve bus quality and service for all which is what we all really want!

Putting rumours like that without any facts on the internet is dangerous and can cause damage to operators
